commented onHow do I balance wearing an Apple Watch and a “real” watch?·
I know you said you couldn’t bear to wear both at the same time, but that’s the solution for me. I’ve done it for 7 years now, and although I was a little self conscious of it in the beginning I found that barely anyone else noticed and also that it didn’t matter if they do. In person if someone notices they’re usually just asking a question about it, and I’ve even done it in big videos and the only comments I’ve seen have been more curious than anything.
Then again I wear hats all the time and most people think they can’t pull off a fully brimmed hat so 🤷🏻♂️
I’ve been wearing my mechanicals on my left and Apple Waych on the right for 7 years (with a short time when I swapped the AW for a Garmin and a short period I swapped it for a Whoop strap). I’ve done it in everyday life and barely anyone has noticed. I’ve even done it in videos that have millions of views and have seen only very rare comments and the people are more curious than anything. No one cares, and it fits my life. Win! 😁
For me there’s a difference between perfection and suitability as a one-watch collection. I can think a watch is perfect but also not right for every occasion. When I say a watch is perfect it just means I would t change a single thing on it. I feel that way about only two watches that I own, the GMT Master II BLRO on Jubilee and the Explorer II Polar (226570). I wouldn’t change anything on either watch. I think they are perfect. But I also enjoy wearing different watches for different occasions, and just to have variety, so I wouldn’t be interested in just one watch, although I kind of wish it was what I wanted. 😅
The other choices are great, I particularly love the new Tudor Blsck Bay 36, but I wouldn’t see them as proper alternatives to the DateJust.
The only reason I think it makes sense to get a different watch is that you said you weren’t sold on the Rolex. Then sure, find something you really love before you drop a huge amount of money on it. Although considering your choices I’d look at the Rolex OP36 and skip the DateJust, seems like it might be more in the style you’re seeking.
Since I own only one of those choices my answer was easy because I’ve actually made the choice. Murph 38, it’s a fantastic watch and looks great on different straps.
