Constructing My Casioak Mod

I've always been fascinated with casio watches. The way they are able to make watches to be both functional and affordable at the same time is just something that brings great value.

I recently purchased the Casio GA-B2100 - 1ADR. Although there are other great models such as the F-91W, GW-M5610, AE-1200, I think I chose this model because of its functionality.

It has a day and date display, reminders, stopwatch, timer, alarm, world time function, digital and analogue displays, 200 metres of water resistance, all fitted into one. Moreover, it is solar powered so it does bring me convenience that I won't have to be worried on the quartz battery dying any time soon, but perhaps I would change it in a few years time. Also, with the bluetooth function, I am able to seemlessly connect the watch to my phone and make minor adjustments. I am not really a big fan of smart watches as I feel like we are a little bit too connected, but with this watch, it gives just enough function to truly appreciate the watch and its uses.

Now as I had gotten the watch, truthfully, I already had plans in modifying its case. Recently I have been fascinated in modding watches as I believe gives and expands your insights on watches, its parts, and more. So to start off small, I wanted to try and modify the casio and give it a proper "Casioak" treatment.

From there, I removed the straps and screws holding the original case in, and replaced it with the metal versions. After a few minutes, I was able to piece everything together and finally modded my watch.

I have to say, although it added a few millimetres in diameter and lug-to-lug length, I still love it because of the fun process of a small deconstruction and reassembly of a watch on my own.

Doing this very soon but changing dial, hands and the whole shebang. All "Dr Who" themed.

Nice! Getting ready for the new season I see!

You can get dials and chapter rings for those also. Lots of mod options for those are becoming popular.

Yeah I saw a lot of other options from SKX Mods! But I'll take it slow and try to read and learn more first before jumping in! 😂

They have a really good video showing exactly what's different on the Bluetooth model you have there, saved me from buying items I was excited about but wouldn't have been able to use. Great watch for travel though, connectivity with a use case.

Yes I, too, was holding out as well. I have a GMAS2100 so that's 42 mm already, how much more will the mod increase the width?

Ive opted for the midsized version already and I'm trying to avoid the full sized one. I want to try this mod, but it feels like it would defeat the purpose of me getting the midsized one on the first place?

After having a few tests, the case would give around an extra 2mm in diameter but 4-5mm extra in its lug-to-lug length.

Personally it does look a little bit too big on my 6 inch wrist. But then again I still love how it looks and really it just upgrades the feel with the metal case and bracelet or rubber strap.

It may look a little too big for our small wrist size, but I would still wear it because of its functionality, durability, as well as my own pride in modding my own watch.
