Seiko SKX013, an overlooked icon. Do you wish you had gotten one?

The Seiko SKX013 is undoubtedly one of my all-time favorite watches. During its production, it seems that many people overlooked it, instead focusing on its larger siblings - the SKX007 and SKX009. While I also have an appreciation for those watches (and even own the SKX009), the SKX013 holds a special place in my heart for several reasons. Perhaps it's because I have smaller wrists, making the 38mm case more comfortable compared to the SKX009. It could also be attributed to the distinct case design, featuring longer lugs and different crown guards. The watch's overall proportion makes it visually pleasing, eliminating unused space. I find the hands, especially the seconds hand, more appealing. I prefer the different font on the bezel. Furthermore, the crystal's shape reflects light in a captivating manner. Maybe it's a combination of all these factors that makes it truly special to me. 😄 The only regret I have is not purchasing it on a bracelet; instead, I opted for a rubber strap that unfortunately fell apart after a few months. However, I solved this issue by pairing it with vibrant orange straps, as they complement the orange "Diver's 200m" text on the dial exceptionally well.

Now that prices are reaching all-time highs, do you wish you had acquired one back when they were considered inexpensive?

The answer is yes.

Yes, I got into watches a bit late (2021), so I missed the boat completely on the cheap SKX era.

The SKX013 is another watch that could be a one and done for me.

I like the 38mm but I have a preference for the 42mm. I like the proportions of the bigger bezel relative to the case more, and I especially like the larger pool of aftermarket parts for modding. 😜

Heck, yeah! Love my 013. Took it on many adventures. Glad I snagged one back in the day. Still all original, too.

The SKX013 was the first automatic watch I bought myself back in 2015, but ultimately sold it after a year because it was too thick for a 38mm dive watch. Just picked up an SRPK33 now that they've trimmed a bit off the top and it now wears a lot better. Definitely miss the old school vibes of the OG SKX

I love my SKX007, I like the fit on me better. The 007, 009 and 013 are icons!

I'm not into divers but yes I like the SKX013

I don’t think I can ever move past from the SKX013. I’m glad I own one.

I was looking at one (two actually) not long ago. They still goes for around 300$-500$ for the most part in the Norwegian market 😊 Small market and the 007s are most known. I think they are very cool, perfect size almost (a bit fat maybe) and retro looking by now. I could easily own, rock and love one, but now my watch budget is blow to hell. So not now at least 🥹

I grabbed one for $189 off of Massdrop years ago. (Great Salt Lake in the background, Antelope Island, UT)

an 013 was one of my first "real" watches a few years ago. I don't wear it a ton anymore, but I have always been reluctant to let it go...

Will probably be in my collection forever...

I own an SKX007j and I have a wrist which is on the larger side but to answer your question if I knew then what I know now I would have gotten an skx013 with my eyes closed. Enjoy it 👏

Might be late but could you link the strap you have?
