Longines Legend Diver No Date 39mm. Would you consider getting one?

The Longines Legend Diver No Date first came out way back in 2007 and was nearly identical copy of a 1960’s Longines model - 42mm case, 22mm lug width and 50mm lug-to-lug. The "purists" loved it, but it seems that it didn't sell that well, because at the end of 2011 the Longines Legend Diver No Date was replaced with the current Date version.

However, recent leaks suggest that Longines might release a 39mm version of the Legend Diver No Date, which would be a great move from the brand. One drawback of the 42mm version is its 50mm lug-to-lug measurement, which doesn't suit smaller wrists. The introduction of the 39mm variant would address this issue, provided they don't opt for a 48mm lug-to-lug measurement 😅

Do you like the look of the Legend Diver? Would you get one in 39mm if they get the lug-to-lug right?

I like it, but I definitely wouldn't buy a no date version. I only buy watches with a date, as I find it extremely handy to have the date on my watch.

I posted about this last week. Excited to check out the 39mm on release. The L2L will allegedly be somewhere between 48.65-48.75mm or 47.36-47.63mm.

I’m the opposite. I think the Legend in particular was a watch whose looks were compromised by the date. Goes for most 3/6/9/12 designs where the date means one of those is missing. This release puts it back on my list, if it wears nicely.

Lug to lug for me is key, specially with Longines which tend to be "Luggy", if the 39 had lug to lug of less than 48, I would definitely consider.

Beautiful pieces.

I prefer the functionality of the date, but I can see why people like no date designs.

Sounds like the L2L might still be on the long side, even at 39mm. There is a 36mm version of the Legend Diver, you know? L2L on the 36mm is supposed to be ~45mm.

One of my favorite watches, love it!

I tried the steel and the bronze 42. Lovely watch, but it's one to try on - the lugs are long, and the dial is busy - it will either look great to you or weird! Best try it on and see which it is. Otherwise, it's an excellent watch in all respects for that price.

Definitely an option for my tiny wrist!

I love the look of the Legend Diver and would consider buying if there was a 39mm version because neither 42mm nor 36mm really do it for me. I‘d prefer a version with a date though.

I would love this watch but I recently paid the premium to buy an older 42mm no date model.

One thing to note is that the older no date has a very slightly shorter L2L than the date version which puts right at the edge of my comfort zone but perfectly wearable.

I think Longines diver offerings are off target. It must be tough in the Swatch corp to compete with Omega but Longines needs to reimagine them along the lines of Sinn, Seiko or Citizen. Give me an over-engineered diver for $1500 that is as tough as it is ugly, COSC, in-house caliber, spikes on the bracelet. The UltraChron is cool but I’d wait for the greys to knock it 30%.

Not one that's on my radar, but it's a very handsome watch. If it's speaks to you, get it. 👍

No date! 👌

Have the 42mm no date version +3000 euro for a 39mm ?? Steep
