New watch for my son (or for me maybe)

I am on a business trip to the US and my son wanted a new TIMEX watch as a gift but I couldn't avoid falling in love with this CASIO the moment I saw it.

It was at a reduced price so I took it! It was only 30 USD which I believe is a bargain for such beauty!

I will take it if he doesn't like it, I thought. Am I selfish or what?

🤔 Let's see if my son likes it. I hope he doesn't, really hope it 😅

If you can find yourself a Walmart nearby they have the cheapest prices on Casio and Timex. Maybe you can grab another. :)

Definitely approve!!

Yes you are selfish. He asked for something he wanted ( and was easily accesible here) but you ignored his request and got something you wanted.

·

I love mine, I would suggest getting one for you too 😂 So easy to wear, looks amazing and it has that classic look.

Yes, you are.

You're also likely functioning in the weird watch community echo chamber that assumes all people prefer Casio over Timex... It's not true.

Buy your son the watch he wants, or admit it was always about you.

Edit: I've always hated the weird Casio obsession in the watch community, but this really highlights how bad/stupid it is. He likely asked for a specific watch, and a the OP goes out and buys something else, then posts the something else expecting approval from the trained seals in the watch community.

"Casio is GoD tIeR!, zermegerd you're the bed dad ever!!11!!!1!!!"

You chose wisely, my friend :-)

·

A168 is my only current Casio. Reminds me of the watches we had as kids.😀

·

God tier watch! Love some casio

·

Got the same one, wise decision!

·

In opinion I’d say still give him the Timex 😬

·

lol snag him a nice timex too, nothing wrong with just keeping the Casio and getting him what he actually is asking for. Don’t press your wants on him, he expressed what he wished for. It may make it seem like what he has taste in or asks for isn’t important and you disregard it for what you want?

Great watch

I was on a business trip with most of the days, an even some nights, with scheduled meeting with customers and prospects so I had little free time to drive around looking for the TIMEX. I went to several stores but no TIMEX available. He loved the CASIO so no issues at all 😉

Too bad I did not find any TIMEX on the stores I visited. Luckily he loves the CASIO 😁

I did not find the TIMEX in any of the several department stores I visited, I was on a business trip with limited time for shopping. CASIO is a great watch which I also know he loves as he already has two of them, it turned out he also loves his third CASIO watch so we could enjoy a happy end to this story 😀

I am surprised most people say how easy is to get TIMEX watches in the US but I unlucky did not find any TIMEX watch in all department stores I visited. Luckily he loves his new (and third) CASIO watch so we could enjoy a happy end to this story.

I had a Walmart near to our subsidiary office but I did not go there. Luckily my son loves his new CASIO so it all turned just perfect. Next time I will definitely visit Walmart. Thank you for your advice 🙏.

Ahhh well that totally makes sense, I am sorry to assume. I suppose the wording of the post framed it a bit differently. I am very glad he liked it!!!

Had you even given a hint of your attempts in your original post the resposes would have been a lot different, We can only respond to the info we are given. As your post reads my response is the same.
