Hmm interesting! Difficult to say. I don't think that Rolex can collapse the industry. But i think Rolex can define the industry. Let's say Rolex decides to go haute horlogerie and stop producing sportwatches. I believe this will collapse the sport watch market (first prices go up for old "tool watches" but after a while people will shifor to the high end brands). Rolex will never affect the high end market where people buy Pateky, FP Journe, Laurent Ferrier and MB&F watches and will most likely never be able to enter this market either.
So, by doing this, rolex would collapse and a segment of the industry with it, but not the entire industry.
Am i the only thinking that a difference between +2.5 seconds and -2 seconds is way too small to send in your watch for a service? I mean this is still pretty accurate..(it is still an automatic movement which you apparently wear a lot)
My guess, your watch is fine, they just answered some basic "normal" things as thwre is nothing really wrong with your watch.
At the end if the day you'll get a free service ;)
