I am looking for a cool beach watch !

Dear watchcrunchers,

I need your help. I usually say "buy whatever you like and don't let other tell you what to buy" but when it comes to Seiko.. i think, i might need to make an exception to this.

I have 2 Divers (a sub LV and a bb58 black) great watches BUT i feel like i want something less shiny for the beach and my first thought went to Seiko. But as you all know.. there are soooo many models that it is impossible to really decide on one.

What can you recommend?

Info that might help:

- The sub is really the biggest watch i own and i don't want anything bigger than that

- i have a 18cm wrist (i guess that's average)

- don't mind quartz so feel free to also suggest quartz models (it will be a beater)

- don't want a G shock, own 2 and rarely wear them because I'd rather wear my Smartwatch.

Seiko Prospex Solar 38.5. Versatile, classy modern interpretation of what a Rolex Sub should be.

Momentum Sea Quartz. Magnum/Tom Selleck, 'nuff said.

Seiko Turtle or Samurai

Just check out the mid-range Seiko Prospex models. They are perfect for wearing to the beach and being a beater but also look really good. Samurai and Turtle models are great options between $400-500.

The new PADI Samurai Model SRPJ93. Other references with the same model are SRPE33, SRPF79 and SRPE35. If you like the turtle case, the King Turtle models are there like the new PADI SRPK01 and SRPG19. I'll just put a link for the rest of the other king turtle models. These models have under 48mm lug to lug and still wear smaller and are comfortable on the wrist. You can try them out in person if you have a chance.

If you don't mind quartz then the 38.5mm solar diver. If you like the BB58 dimensions then this would be a great choice. You can check the link for the other model references.

Before looking for a specific model, I would suggest to consider a titanium watch. They are extremely light and comfortable.

Tudor Pelagos Blue. If you’re looking for less shiny, it’s a great tool watch, everyday watch and it does pretty well on value

I picked this up last month with one eye towards my upcoming beach vacation to Oahu (+ I wanted something "fun" and I dig Snoopy)

I'm normally the first to suggest Seiko, and that would be a fantastic choice. But I am going to suggest another watch which I also own that would be a wonderful beach watch. I have mine on mesh and it's fantastic.

That looks awesome! What a cool tip. Now i will spend at least one day researching this warch haha (and also look into serviceability.. in my experience Seiko is already tough enough in Switzerland)

The hunt is part of the fun!

Love a Doxa Sub 300 for a bit of rough and tumble on the beach 😄

·

This watch was made for the beach. Timex Tide/Temp/Compass watch!

I've seen those on Marc's site. How do you like it?

For the price, the resin one is awesome. I’m not sure I’d pay $300 for a titanium one though.

Because of the way the fixed lugs are made, you can only use thin natos with it. It is quite thick. Seconds hand doesn’t line up after 35s because of the cheap quartz movement.

Anyways.. it’s a cheap watch. If you like the looks of it and can overlook the cheap watch quirks, it’s a great weekend watch!
