Birthday Present for Me

So my birthday is coming up in May and I think I want to get myself a new watch. I really don't need anymore Dive Watches and I am thinking a GMT is missing in the collection. I'm not a jet setter so a Office GMT is fine plus I'm stingy with my money so don't want to spend more than $1500 CAD which is about $1200 USD. That is spending a lot on a watch for me and just contemplating kind of makes me feel ill (did I say I was stingy).

Anyway I've been looking at options. One would be that Sealander above which I like and meets my price criteria when I use the Loupe Promo. Some other options I've considered are:

Baltic:

Lorier (out of the running as it's not available sadly):

Steinhart

Are their any other options? Farer goes above my budget or they would be on the list and if I could find a Zodiac Sea Wolf GMT for the price I'd consider that also but I can't fine one for less than $1700 USD. I thought Mido but it's to big for my wrist.

I'm leaning strongly towards the CW at the moment as I have more than a few Black Dial Divers a White Dial would be a nice vacation watch.

Are you a member of the Canadian Watch Collector forum? There is a CW GMT LE that might have a few pieces left for sale...

It comes with the bracelet, but I hate bracelets, so it's still wrapped in stickers in the box.

No I am not but I just did the registration request. I feel like a bad Canadian Watch enthusiast as I never heard of it until now.

I never thought about the Airman sometimes one can find a decent price good tip.

I'm a big fan of the Baltic.  Have you seen one in person yet?

It's a small community, but it's good. The CWC CW C63 GMT LE is a great watch, and has made me question my distain for GMT complications...

I still think they are mostly useless, but now I have a pretty and mostly useless watch 😂

Sadly where I live I don't see a lot of watches outside of Citizen, Casio, and Bulova in the wild. I did spot an Alpina a couple weeks ago but those sightings are rare. That's means unless I stop at an AD when traveling I have to rely on pictures and internet opinions. :(

I do think the Baltic looks pretty cool though have not heard much negative about them at all.

Well in all honesty I totally agree with you it's more about the look and novelty. I use my phone to track time zones, 'Siri what time is it in <insert destination>' lol.

I'd tend to go for the CW over the Baltic.  Baltic do a lovely case but seem to achieve their pricing with lower price movements.  IIRC almost all of the CWs are Sellita movements.  I've the moon phase and the case finishing etc punches well above its price point.

·

Baltic seems to hit the mark most times. I'd give them a go.

Check out the Mido Ocean Star GMT.

It's a "true" GMT with an original design, and it's very high quality in real life. Oh and don't think it's too big until you try it out 👌🏻

Take a look at the Seiko Sharp edge GMT. It can be had in your budget and unlike the other options mentioned it's a true traveler's GMT.

·

I've got CW C63 and wear it most days. Bracelet is nice and comfortable and adjusts. I can't see how you'd be disappointed with finish and movement at the price.

I didn't go for C63 GMT as useless to me. However, I wish I had bought it now as it adds interest to the dial and looks great, although I didn't know they did a red hand version as only ones I seen are orange

I've been looking at the Seiko Sharp Edge off and on I just can't find one within my budget parameters. Cheapest I can find is $1700 Canadian at the moment but they are a beautiful looking watch no doubt about that.

I'll second all the Christopher Ward recommendations here. I have 2 and they compare nicely with my Tudor, especially at 1/4th the price. Amazing watches and service.

·

Being Canadian you may want to check put Marathon.  They make the automati  GSAR in 2 sizes now. This is one example

Post Script: apologies,  was texting another Canadian friend on a watch choice. This is not a GMT

I'm not married to a GMT as in the above comments I will never use the GMT function it's more novelty then anything else. I do consider Marathon an option I like the idea of owning that Brand but I don't think I would wear it very much.
