Advice And Perhaps Some Help For A Fellow Cruncher

Good morning Crunchers!

Okay, going right in: I have an app called Offerup. Kind of like a smaller version of Ebay. Anyway, I have bought some watches from here (face to face-cash transactions) and I have been happy with them. I have also had items, including watches and other types of electronics shipped from other states here with no problems.

This is where it goes downhill:

I WANT/NEED/CRAVE whatever you want to call it the watch above in the ad. It's a watch that I have been looking for a long time and I finally see it on here. Problem is, this guy only does local sales and is not too keen on shipping a watch because he thinks he might get screwed or something. This watch is located somewhere in Anaheim, California.

I have tried to search the web for this watch but they are sold out everywhere. Chrono24 had one with box and all but it sold before I could get to it.

Do any of you Crunchers live near Anaheim, California? Is there anyway that you could meet this guy face to face and give him the cash for it and I would pay you not only the price of the watch but shipping etc.? By the way, I have been on Ebay since 2002 and I have 100% positive feedback on buying and selling (although not too much selling.)

What would you do in this situation? Have any of you ever been in this situation and how did it turn out?

Please advise.

Have a safe and great week out there!

Never been in this situation. I have no idea why he wouldn’t ship it. (Assuming the buyer is in the same country)

Tell him you’ll pay for shipping. Charge it on your credit card in the event the guy runs away.

I have done that already and he won't budge. He will only sell locally. Ugh.😮‍💨

The shipping and taxes are included in every transaction. I'm actually thinking about contacting customer service and see if they can help out too.

Charge it to your credit card and opt for buyer’s protection.

Yeah, if he’s already charging you for shipping, he should ship it.

I'll be honest, if he's not willing to budge at all, I'm a little skeptical i.e.- kinda a red flag.

Use WatchRecon and wait for one to pop up on eBay, WUS, or reddit?

I'm not too far from the seller, I could go for you.

But, like others have said it's kinda strange that the add says that they ship for $3.50 and then won't ship.

I can't figure out how to send a PM to you, if you can send me one we'll talk more.

EDIT:

I figured it out, PM sent.

Pretty sure that particular watch isn't on Ashfords. I know because I've been looking ferociously for the same watch. I got lucky and mine arrived yesterday!! Slightly quirky (weird reset thing going on with the minute hand - Glycine are phoning me tomorrow) but works fine. I understand your eagerness but can't help as it was a private sale on Chrono24 and I'm in the UK . It has the presence of an IWC but a little more interesting to look at. Good luck. It's worth the chase! If I see another I'll give you a shout! 😎
