Send to service or not?

Hi,

I have noticed a very tiny hair (or similar) on the rotor of my new Sealander C63. Would you send it back to service or keep it as is?

For me it doesn't bother me that much, but I don't know if it could damage something in the future. the accuracy is currenty quite good.

They look to be quite substantial scratches to me. Are they affecting the functionality of the rotor or is it more aesthetically displeasing? If it is the latter but you can live with it all well and good. Otherwise send it back.

What on the photos appears to be a scratch is a small hair. Unfortunately my phone camera doesn't catch it well.

Ok. Do you feel confident enough to take the caseback off yourself and removing them?

I think a chat to CW is in order at the very least as it is brand new,...it might be worth your while, put the ball in their court, I would,

Put it this way, it wont go away on it's own, and opening the case yourself on a brand new purchase is not really a good start and still has the potential to become a disaster, case scratches, letting even more dust into the movement, breaking the seal, just not worth the risk,

Personally i would send it back, just to be sure to get a new watch without scarfs or anything. At least you ve paid money to get one of these

First off, I’m not very observant so I wouldn’t have noticed that for several years. At that point I’d just take the back off and remove it. But if I did notice it while the watch was new as you have, I’d probably send it back. I doubt it’s a big deal, but it’s the principle. You buy something new, you expect it to be perfect. Or to get a discount.

Send it back as you don't know the long term ramifications if it moves

·

I'd send it back. Debris in a movement -- even just a small hair, can totally destroy timekeeping.

I would definitely contact CW on this. I’ve found them to be extremely responsive and although it’s not currently causing you any issues, you don’t want unnecessary debris getting into the movement. Better to be safe than sorry
