Watch choice help to complete collection! Tissot PRX 35mm (black or blue?) vs Grand Seiko SBGX261

So of course price plays a part but I don’t mind waiting a bit longer to save up for the watch that would finish my collection. Last photo was a photo taken by my fiancé right before I proposed! But reason I posted that photo was to show the type of clothes I wear since I believe it’s relevant to the watch I will choose. I like pairing my clothes with my watches. Also, third pic is my wrist lol.

I currently own a 3 watch collection that consists of the G-Shock GWM5610 (work out/ activity watch), Tudor BB58 in gilt ( daily piece/ work watch/ business casual watch), and my Junghans Max Bill Auto 38mm (dress watch/ formal dress watch). Now all I need is a GADA that won’t attract as much attention, low profile and dissapears on the wrist but is nice enough for last minute occasions. Which one should I get? The tissot PRX 35mm (blue or black?) or the Grand Seiko SBGX261

GS every day and twice on Sunday. Not even close in my opinion. The GS is a far superior watch in every way.

Grand Seiko...it is in a completely different league. Cannot compare Tissot to it.

·

Save for the watch you really want. The GS would be the way to go. Not the model you want but GS' are gorgeous.

BTW, you've got style my man 🤙🏽.

Which one do you like/speaks to you the most? I would pick the GS over the Tissots based on looks, movement, and quality, but if the PRXs speak to you more I would go with them.

Personally I'd go with the GS. Yes know that this is your clothing style at the moment, however your tastes change and the Seiko will be easier to incorporate with the passing of time. Think of the long run not just right now.

Def something to think about lol. And thank you!

9F is unbelievably good, and GS finishing is so far above entry level Tissot it’s not even funny! Nothing against Tissot, but the SBGX is a better purchase. I paid $850 for mine direct from Japan via EBay.

Definitely the Grand Seiko is what I would go for !

I have the Tissot prx Automatic 80 green Waffle dial

It’s a nice watch but the Grand Seiko is another level !

·

Oh man, comparing a Grand Seiko to a PRX is like comparing an Aston Martin to an Ford Focus 😜

Grand Seiko all day, every day.

·

Do not buy placeholders. Unless you can afford or want both in the long run. So if this is the case, when in doubt, buy both.

·

Damn I might end up getting the grand Seiko lol

How’s the clarity of the dial? I know previous models before the omition of the Seiko logo don’t have AR coating so it glares like crazy

The legibility outdoors is fantastic. I fly with it pretty often and I’ve had no problems.

No competition, GS all the way!

GS gets my vote. 👍

From your collection and options, the prx, it is different enough from the others and yet could go along with casual and formal occasions. For fhe gs, it is already covered by your bb and junghans at both ends. To match your clothing, the g and bb from your current collection, the gs is too formal that you have junghans covering for it.

If I pick the Tissot. Should I go for the black or blue? I’m just afraid it wouldn’t match my monochrome clothing style. I wear a lot of monochromatic clothes (black, dark grey, forest green, navy)

The thing is I really don’t care much for the Zaratsu polishing on GS. I just want a piece that can be sporty, yet elegant. But I do care for longevity.

·

Why you need a gada watch? You have a perfect 3 watch collection. And none of your watches scream attention. The only thing that could see is a funky watch. Funky in terms of color, shape, complications... But perhaps that is just me. Buy what you want and like.

Agree with tyand, and the bb could be your gada and junghans for black tie.

If you still want to go, black is more versatile blue if you want to add a little detail in your apparel.

Grand Seiko all day!

Get the GS. It’s a proper watch, you won’t regret it.

Grand Seiko!

The 9F quartz movement is incredible — 10 seconds a year, I believe. Grand Seiko’s level of finishing has got to be the best bargain in the watch world. I had a Grand Seiko and the only reason I sold it was because I didn’t want to scratch up the zaratsu polished case.

Hey Paulo,

Congrats on getting engaged!

I’d choose the Grand Seiko SBGX261, I’ve actually lodged my interest at a boutique near me but they’ve been out of stock since Feb. Not sure if the 261 has been quietly discontinued 😢.

Not a big fan of the PRX due to the integrated bracelet. It’s a good looking watch but not being able to swap to a leather strap makes a potential GADA watch less flexible imo.

Tissot and others sell leather straps for PRX at reasonable prices

·

Congrats on proposal. If GADA is what you’re looking for PRX is the perfect choice.I have a few seikos. All ok.I wanted a GS,while saving for one I bought a KS,total POS!! In a couple of months it went back twice for repair. No problems with both PRX’s that I bought before KS and wear way more!! Good luck sir.

You'll impress your fiancee if you buy PRX and spend the money you would have saved if you bought GS on your wedding
