I try and only wear day date seikos on Sunday for this exact reason. I live the red Sunday especially on a black date wheel.
Not sure what manufacturer I got it from but it's a polorizing filter that takes place of the original filter on the screen of the module. It's not just a purple screen taped to the back of the screen guard it is actually applied to the screen itself once the original has been removed.
First off, I have the same digital calipers and it is way better than the expensive one I'm forced to use at work. One of the best harbor freight finds ever.
Second, did you happen to uncover what movement and dial size the case might accept? Could be a great base for a build.
Last, I agree that everyone should buy and wear what they enjoy buying and wearing. Disagreeing with that I believe only proves the point by someone choosing not to buy and wear this.
However!! If it doesn't tell the time then it's not a watch IMO. It's just a bracelet or piece of jewelry in the shape of a watch.
I have an entire watch box full of timex watches I keep in the spare bedroom to preserve my sanity. If you know you know. Many other quartz pieces sprinkled in elsewhere as well.
