No shame in a good watch no matter the price.

but its a copy isn't it.

Decide which is more important to you, the story, or the style and price.

Personally, I don't care about the story, it's all marketing to me.

They’re solid watches, and I’d buy one if I was currently in the market for another diver.

Personally, I think the whole idea of homage watches being somehow less-than is silly. I mean, who cares? Who in your day-to-day life is even going to notice, much less care? You also said yourself that you can’t afford the BB (I can’t either), so why not get a watch that’s aesthetically similar, and is within your budget, if you like the style? If someone does want to give you grief for wearing a watch that’s an homage of a more expensive brand, then they’re most likely someone whose opinion isn’t worth much anyway (not that any opinions matter, really).

Tl;dr - Just buy the watch if you like it.

San Martin make excellent watches. Full stop. Do you worry about it being an Homage because some fairly vocal people frown upon them (usually while buying watches that Homage others), Or because you truly believe homages to be wrong. If the latter is true, good luck finding a watch!

I don’t think anyone is choosing between a $300 watch and a $4,000 watch. The homages aren’t hurting any luxury sales.

The whole thing is watch bubble silly.

If Rolex/Tudor were smart they’d come out with their own line of Asian made watches with similar styling to their flagships. They could sell a lot of $500-1000 watches under an official new line name.

I will say that I have bought and owned a number of homage watches. I have no problem with it, but what I find is it doesn't "scratch the itch" of wanting the original, it just made me want the original more. Keep that in mind if you are like me, it may just make the longing for the Black Bay even worse and not make it better.
