Welcome to the world of automatics. It’s the same as your mechanical, except that you don’t need to wind it as long as you wear it before the power reserve runs out. I think the Seiko5 has a 40 hour power reserve so if you wear it on a Monday, you can put it away and not wear it again until Thursday and it’ll still be running. If you don’t wear it every 2-3 days, the power reserve will run out and you’ll need to wind or move the watch around to get the watch started again. Hope that helps.

Don't quick change the date when the watch is between 10p & 2a.

To ensure this, I always set the time by advancing the hands past midnight first (date changes) and then as long as the current time isn't between 10p & 2a, set the date

Probably don't want to use it while doing something that will expose it to lots of shocks; think hammering of any kind.

Hells yeah!! Good for you! @UnholiestJedi has some great points.

I would like to add... Keep them away from your cell phone and other sources of magnetism. As in don't leave it on your cell phone on your night stand. Give them a little bit of room.

I don't leave mine in the bathroom when I take long hot showers just in case.

And that's it really. Have fun and enjoy!

Welcome and wear the crap out of it.

It'll take more than you're actually willing to wear it through.

And by all means, dont be concerned about not wanting to damage it, I get it. Just realize watches are also tools, use your tools!

Advice about magnetism and repetitive shocks is spot on, if you notice it's running stupid fast, get it degaussed. And if you are manning a jackhammer or hanging drywall/framing, maybe take it off 😂?

Wear in good health!

CrafterBlue makes a killer camo rubber strap for that watch!!

One piece of advice...just because it is an automatic, don't forget to give it a good 10 to 20 winds when you first get the watch going if it has run out of juice. That will help with keeping the watch on track and more accurate. This works as long as the watch has handwinding complication.

Here's a good video to watch...
