An hour chime timepiece that is sure to bring many years of horological joy
I am so happy to hear that and you are very welcome! It is wonderful that your wife likes it too which is very important :)). You got it from a friend in the local watch group, which is the best way to acquire a pre-owned timepiece. Congratulations again!!
Wow! Congratulations!! This Pasha looks classic and elegant, and very nice on your wrist. This piece looks quite special to me and I have looked at many Pasha pieces lately. Normally, there are only 3, 6, 9 and 12 hour marks. You have additional 5, 10, 20, etc. The black dial is less common too. It is an excellent piece and I'm sure that it will catch the eyes of folks who see it. Enjoy it and wear it in good health!
Thanks for reading and the kind remarks! Congratulations on owning the Santos De Cartier WSSA0037! It is such a classic and elegant design! The Santos is much less polarizing than Pasha - I agree with you on this.
The Pasha in SS case is about the same price as the Santos. My guess is that Cartier will bring the grille to the SS Pasha soon. Furthermore, on the secondary market, Pasha with grille in SS may be had around $3k.
Thanks for the comments and I'm aware of the version of story that there was a 1943 version of Cartier that had a grille. I was very intrigued by this and did a lot of search. I talked to George Cramer (a seasoned Cartier collector and writer) and Andrew (Watchfinder talking hand who interviewed with Cartier on Pasha). The situation is that there were not any publications prior to 1985 that described or showed a Cartier with a grille. The talk of 1943 model with grille only showed up after 1985. Mr. Cramer considered the 1943 watch with grille "fake news". On the other hand, Mr. Genta did design several versions of Pasha, as the recent auctions showed.
Based on these research, I'm willing to believe that Mr. Genta designed the 1985 Pasha with grille himself (without example of prior model). I'll be happy to change my mind if there are solid evidence of an earlier designer for Pasha. Anyhow, it is part of the fun and intrigue of watch collecting.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment! From the research, a Pasha was not a sultan or king, but answered to no one. He was a ruler of his region. There might be a better word than lord. thanks for getting me to think about it more :))
