Tudor Black Bay 58 vs Black Bay 54

Hi everyone! I have been thinking about it since Tudor released their BB54.

Should I sell my BB58 and buy a BB54? I have a 6.75” wrist, so I think BB54’s 37mm case is also work on my wrist.

Things I like about BB58

Red triangle on bezel

Things I like about BB54

Bezel - no marks between 0-15 and silver coloured numbers

Seconds hand - a dot instead of snowflake

So, while the 54 is smaller across, the lug-to-lug between the two is very similar. It will probably feel the same on the wrist and look similar too. I hear there's also a waiting list for the 54 some places, so be prepared for that. I would see if you could try one on and see if it makes a real difference for you. If you want to look at one of the new Tutors, check out the burgundy bezel 58 while you are trying stuff on. That one is beautiful.

The change to a round lollypop for the second's hand made the BB54 dial a bit better but the bezel of the BB58 helped in making the watch a bit less boring. The BB54 looks more compact and with less blank space but I think that it needs a larger crown. So to me it's a toss between the two models but who am I to stop you from buying what you like?

At that wrist size the only reason I'd change is if I couldn't find a perfect fit with the 58 bracelet (the 54 having the TFit).

Im sort of in the same boat cause I own a blue 58, however not only do i get a good fit with the current bracelet, I like that blue colour too much to part ways. Let's see when they release a blue version.

Saw the BB54 in the window in Canary Wharf. Looks pretty great.

This picture is from Tudor’s website. Does the 54 come with a sunburst dial? The combination of sunburst dial and a retro watch looks weird.

I don't own either. I have a Pelagos and a PO1.

I resisted buying the BB58 having tried it on a few times.

I recently tried on the BB54. I won't resist buying that one. It's lovely!

Is losing the red triangle and gilt markers on the bezel a worthwhile sacrifice to enjoy a 37 mm case ? No, I don't think so.

Same here. People say it looks very similar but wears differently. Not sure myself if adding $1,400++ for the change is worth it. Hope to be able to try it on and will decide.

Check my post for BB54 on a boney wrist. I put on the 58 previously so many times and resisted due to size. Never thought the day of a 37mm bb would come but here we are. 🥰

If you already have a 58 then keep it man 😉
