Seiko5

This morning as I again reached for my Seiko5 Snoopy for the 3rd day in a row, it occurred to me that I'm not grabbing it for the dog on the dial. I'm grabbing it because it's a comfortable, easy wearing watch. It could not have a design on the dial and I'd still wear it. Although, I might not have bought it and then I would be missing out.

I am starting to understand the Seiko love. You can get these for a reasonable price. The case is comfortable with a nice curve to it. It's not too big or too small. The bezel is solid and glides smoothly. It is accurate enough for the price point and it's easy to adjust

The day and date is more useful than I ever expected.

The colors are pretty slick and I might just add the black one as a go-anywhere, don't worry about it watch

I’ve got the seiko 5 sports with I’ve put on the rubber strap off my Tudor and it wears really well

Image

as well as a vintage seiko 5 sport from 1978 what is a similar case shape and very comfortable to wear as well

I love the case size to lug2lug ratio on the 5 Series. Even with a 42mm+ case (pretty much my wrist’s limit) the lug2lugs come in around 46. Perfect!

·

I agree... I've got the same Snoopy and I really like the case size. I'm very tempted by the teal one but I don't care for the gold hands. If it had silver hands I'd have bought it.

Agreed that is a weird design choice

I know, right? It's disappointing as I really like the teal

Seiko 5 is my favorite watch

I see you also swapped out the original strap for a black one. Did the same with mine.

I love this watch. *chef's kiss*

·

Agreed. I have the black one on an Uncle rubber strap and it’s my go to casual watch.

Good on the bracelet too.

Snoopy only makes a cool watch even cooler. I love it when a watch is better then I thought. Wear it with smiles. 🥂

I’ve posted this one a few times, but it is once again relevant for this thread. I’m not a fan of diver style watches, so I modded the 38mm 5KX into a real 200m pressure tested diver with a screw down crown, sapphire, and a solid link jubilee, the bracelet that is suppose to be on SKX watches and SKX style watches. I like your Snoopy, however, because it’s a fun watch to wear provided Snoopy on the dial.

In this picture, the chapter ring is absent. It now has a stainless brushed chapter ring with etched markers, allowing you to read and set the time down to the second. The bezel was pulled off an SKX013, providing a luminous pip — something absent from the 5KX watches

Niiiice.

Love that watch! I've ordered the one with the cream dial and black bezel. Still eagerly awaiting it. 😍

Thought I would retire my snoopy until next summer but put it on an Uncle Jubilee and it’s back in rotation again!

I’d love to know how you did this, particularly the screw-down crown. Have you described it elsewhere?

This makes me want a Snoopy 5KX all over again.

Do it!

I love your Seiko and also starting to appreciate more and more from your posts 😊 and those are cute kitties 😸

·

I have the cream version and it is the most comfortable watch on my wrist out of my entire collection. I wouldn't mind picking up the black version, and the blue looks nice ~ as does the orange...

You transplant the 5KX guts into an SKX clone case. You cannot use the original chapter ring. You have to use an aftermarket for it to work. It’s the only drawback, since finding matching colors can prove to be difficult.

Once you've entered the realm of Seiko there is no turning back!

Brilliant. I’m tempted.

Love the Snoopy diver. I wanted the pilots watch too but couldn’t find it.
