Quartz Daylight Savings Time

Good morning from the crazy part of the world that changes the time on a whim 2x a year. Just realized how many quartz watches I have (with a Seiko in there as it's the one I plan to wear today)

I must say, both the GS and Cartier are spot on. My G-shock and my little F91W were quite significantly different. It really shows the difference between quality quartz precision and cheaper quartz.

Who else loves quartz watches for the simplicity of grab and go?

Grab and go, except for today. A lot of button mashing and cursing will be involved

·

as long as they didnt have the second hand 😂

It’s interesting as I have multiple quartz including the high accuracy kind which also happens to sync with atomic clocks. While I do wear them, it is only occasionally as one of the many mechanical watches draws me in on a given day. I’d like to get a GS quartz someday but I have to find the right size for me.

We need to end the jump back and forth. Permanent daylight savings time. Reasons are numerous: safer drives and walks home in the winter, a mood boost you get from seeing a bit of sunlight as you leave the office on a dreary winter evening, reducing the vulnerability of women walking home in the dark, feeling empowered to cook at home, go out with friends, and enjoy life. It literally saves lives between safer streets and reducing depression.

But, perhaps most importantly: alleviate the pain of people who have large watch collections.

Right? Forget all the science that says it's terrible for our health. Don't the politicians know how inconvenient it is for watch lovers!!!

This is why we need proper representation in government. No time dilation without representation!

I spent this morning changing the time on all my watches. I wear my automatic every day so grab and go isn’t an issue for me.

Here’s the real question though:

Did you wind the hands back an hour? I was too paranoid to do that and instead set the date to the 4th, then wound the hands forward until I got the correct time.

I am a big fan of quartz.

There is a solution to this problem. You can move to Arizona.

Oregon is seriously considering it and I might just move 3hrs south to save me a time change... although that would be hilarious to drive into WA and watch the time adjust

Gorgeous!

Every day except today. I have almost 30 quartz watches and 5 mechanical. I wish they would just "fall back" by a half-hour this time and just leave it there.

Proper, government, and representation. Three words you can't use in the same sentence any more.

·

I appreciate the DST "complication" on my Casio's.

🤓

·

I would say that 75% of my collection is quartz. I just like the simplicity of as you mentioned.

·

I have some great quartz pieces. I don't discriminate - if I like a watch, I'll get it.

I’m majority quartz, as it’s much easier to justify an impulse purchase when you don’t have to think about the movement or servicing. Mechanicals are for when I want something special and meaningful.

·

Did this last week and I still feel the pain in my fingers 😆🤣 and happy the quartz ones only needed tending once and they were good to go

·

I love the irony of setting my most expensive watch, using my least expensive watch as reference. (200x cheaper!)

·

100% agree. I’m not just majority quartz, but majority high accuracy quartz, so DST change is the only time of year I set time and it’s not fun 🤣

To me too quartz (and HAQ especially) is the only real GADA. I want my watches accurate enough that I can time light rail or metro or international meetings when I grab them, whether it be 2 days or 2 months later. Sure, my automatics are fun to look at, and I enjoy them, but they’re not useful as a tool to me in the same way.

Quartz is awesome for several reasons 😊 Both my daily wearers are mechs! I think this will change 🤔 One more durable peice what doesn't need service so often and can take a beating would be great 😅
