Sun 104 St Sa

Hey everyone, been wanting to add a Sinn to my collection for some time. I’m looking at this piece as I’m lacking a quality pilot watch. I especially like the option for German date display. My budget would be $2-3k. What does the crowd think of this and what other options would I have in my budget for a classic pilot watch that can double as a dress watch or made to be more sporty with a NATO strap.

I think if youre looking for a sporty pilot, this is your best bet. Its a true gada watch with a very cool brandname on the dial and interesting heritage.

I also want a german pilot, but Im gonna go with a flieger, a Laco type B to be specific, cos its more in my price range and I find the connection to the luftwaffe and actual ww2 use awesomely cool.😃

It doesent have proper WR tho, and its not something I would call sporty but I personally dont mind it.

I had this watch. It’s built like a tank, as all good tool watches should be. It’s less refined than, say, a Tudor, but that’s a good thing. It’s a super solid watch that does well not to flirt with the dreaded ‘luxury’ tag.

This is great do it all watch, go for it

Sinn for the win. You can‘t go wrong with this brand. But if you want to have a look at another German brand for this type of watch, check out

Yup had the Sinn 104 twice (black and then blue dial) and loved them. Great for casual and slightly dressy wear. Stick indices is a bit dressier than Arabic numerals. Fine link bracelet is a nice option if you want to dress it up more too. Good luck 👍

Any links for a blog/YT video about the history with the Luftwaffe. I would be interested to learn more. I think you feel the same as me that watches with history/backstories just add to the appeal. Sinn was founded by WWII pilot so that was part of my attraction to them for a pilot watch.

Don't get me wrong but wouldn't count this watch exactly as a pilot / dress watch, ı would go for longines spirit/ big eye or oris pro pilot models

Longines probably out of my budget 😅

·

I personally would choose the 104A, with the arabic numerals.😍 But you cant go wrong with a 104, or any Sinn really. 👍🏻🙂 (But im a bit of a Sinn fan-boy). 😄

I bought the Sinn ST SA 104 in June 2023. I intentionally wore it to do landscaping and shoveled over 3000 pounds of rock wearing the watch. I also wear it when water skiing Flawless performance: gains 2 seconds a day; amplitude of an astounding 330 degrees; and zero beat rate error. Strong recommendation!

They are just around 3k

And often with discounts. The big eye is awesome 👌

I do like this Sinn though it's caught my eye for a while. I like the count down bezel

My Humble Opinion.

Hard to beat that Sinn!

I own a Sinn 556. It doesn’t disappoint in terms of build quality and dial legibility (great AR coating application). I am not a fan of day displays but it is a matter of personal preference. Also, what a great brand name : our SINful passion, right there on our wrist in plain sight 😅

Thoughts on 556 bracelet?

·

I think this year I am getting rid of my 104. I like the watch, it is tough has heck, but as much as do not care for dates, I really do not care for a day date complication, and the crown is unnecessarily large. If you are willing to spend $3K, I would get a used IWX Mk XVIII. Plenty of them out there and when found under that price, a good value.

I went for a leather strap. Very comfortable, soft and pliable from the beginning, but nothing unique:

104 is on my wishlist too. But the 41 mm ProPilot - I have the one below - is a great allrounder. Goes with so many straps, and can do fairly dressy duty on the bracelet, with the polished midlinks.

I have Sinn 104 blue dial on the h-link bracelet and brown leather strap. Great watch.

Hahaha. I take it that’s USD? Double that for AUD and now out of my price range 🥲

My absolute favourite watch!

The Milanese strap is straight fire!

·

It's an excellent watch all around and pretty versatile. It's solidly built, good looking and works with many straps. I would not hesitate to buy again.

It is a fantastic watch but big and bulky in a good way. I had one then sold it to help fund a Ranger which I am happy with .

I have a white dial 104 and completely recommend it. I also have a variety of Sinn straps (they are great value) and make the watch incredibly versatile.

I normally wear it on the brown leather which suits it just fine. A black or grey canvas dresses it down nicely and the grey alcantara changes the look considerably. I also have a Sinn rubber strap which is excellent for the summer/ beach. I don’t use the bracelet as I think it suits straps better.

Here is a very nice german lady exploring the backstory and showing some modern alternatives, but if youre really interested, Id advise you to read up on them rather then watch videos, you can get more detailed information from articles regarding the subject.😃

Go for it, a beautiful watch - as I don‘t like the completely polished case, I changed the look slightly:

Actually, I got a Longines Spirit 37 mm for $1800 US, $1900 with the sales tax.
