Drawer of Shame

What watches are in your Drawer of Shame?

Bonus points: Why?

I was going to say this watch isn’t actually in a drawer of shame, but when I went to take a picture I found it in a box in the closet far from any watch I’ve worn in the last year. So yeah.

A 90s TAG Heuer SEL. Because it’s a 90s TAG Heuer SEL. Also the bracelet seems to have shrunk with age, and I have mislaid the spare links 😁

A small Raymond Weil gifted to me by my Father in Law. It wasn't really a gift as much as it was a "I don't want this anymore, you like watches?, You can have it". Its a Gold, oval, 32mm watch that doesn't suit my style or wrist size but its a nice little piece. Just not nice enough to be with the pieces I actually wear. To the drawer it goes.

1965 Surf King GY won't take a full wind (or any real wind). In the queue for the watchmaker it goes.

Vostoks. Hateful things. Got maybe 3, all utter shite. I get they're cheap but they're unreliable, inaccurate and badly made. Also a few bust GShocks from my youth ( maybe just need batteries but really not my thing)

Two Vinceros that I can’t really sell or give away. One (green dial Chrono S) was a groomsman gift from my brother and the other (Apex panda dial) an “I don’t like this anymore…you want it?” from my dad. I don’t like either anymore. Both are 43mm.

That's good on you to want to give them away, kind of surprised nobody would want them. Maybe a child or teenager? No.1 does look typical Vincero, though I like that green dial, but I actually like no. 2 a little. Put any other name besides "Vincero" on it and I'd like it even more, so there's some of my prejudice there.

It sounds like a little jewel. I think technically it's in the "Extras Drawer" and not the D.O.S.

Man, look at that. That's worth reviving if it's not crazy expensive.

But you bought 3 Vostoks. Why 3 if you knew they were no good? Reason I'm asking is because I have three old school little Seiko 5s. They're pretty lousy watches. Don't keep good time and have wildly variable power reserves. So why did I buy three? The dials, the dials . . !

Watch and reason noted. But I had a TAG Heuer 1000 in the early 90s. Bluer than blue dial, curves on the case, great looking bracelet. Wish I still had it.

I may break it out for a fancy dinner one of these days.
