Catholic, father of two, born before the Quartz Crisis, worked in hospital for 37 years, retired, also was semi-pro drummer (drumset) in loud rock bands and hand drums drummer (African) in acoustic duo. Love almost every watch ever made, and right now (6/2023) have 30 of them, none costing more than $180.
I've loved watches since I was a child. Grew up in the 1960s. Timex. Accutron. Seiko inventing the quartz watch.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Timex Mercury.
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
All my watches are interesting to me, but I don't have one with an interesting story.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Enjoy, enjoy, and be sure your decisions make financial common sense.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Aragon, Caravelle, Alba, Seiko, Casio
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
A slightly smaller Seiko "Arnie", no digital display, friction bezel for timing events, good specs, solar mecha-quartz movement, all for $199 or less.
Why? Because a solar mecha-quartz would be the ultimate watch movement, and as far as I know, they don't exist.
