Ronan from London

Hello all, I'm 19-year-old Ronan. I'm from just outside London but will be working in the city in about 3 weeks. I've always had an interest in watches, after loosing my first nice watch a Lorus (Seiko sub-brand) that my mum got me, I got a fashion watch from TK MaXX (UK discount fashion store) which looked nice but lasted about a year before breaking. I bought the watch in the background, a Citizen Men's strap BM 8745 after working my first summer job. The watching I'm wearing in the picture is a Citizen BM-8475 that I got as a Christmas gift last year. I'm really looking forward to expanding my collection, and I'm currently looking for a watch under £200 ($250ish) to mark the start of my job in the city.

Welcome! And you are off to a good start however, a Seiko 5 is also a great entry piece imo enjoy!!

·

Welcome to Crunchland. The Seiko “DressKX” is a great all arounder at that price. If you’re looking at a dive watch, check out the Orient Mako, Kanno, and Kamasu.

·

Welcome to WC. Love the look of those orange index markers.

Welcome to the Watch family and congratulations on the new job. I’m sure you can possibly find a used Seiko flight master or a good looking Timex for that price. Good luck and let us know what you end up going with.

Welcome to the club, watch collecting is a wonderful journey. And don't forget to have fun!

PS: Good luck with your new endeavor.

Wow thanks for such a warm welcome everyone! I will definitely like it here. I went into a jeweller today to try on some watches and tried on a Rotary chronograph that I did really like, it was a bit more pricey but my family have rotary's so I think it would be nice to continue that.

I actually have this exact watch bookmarked! So it's definitely a consideration but my collection plan (this is gonna sound weird probs haha) is to have 3 of Brands I like with the 3rd being higher value for the brands I do want to have 3 of, of course the big boys are a dream one day and it's very unlikely I would be able to get 3 Rolex's for example haha

Never say never. My first nice watch was a Kenneth Cole (I should post on WRUW). I still have it after 20-25 years and the watch still works with only one battery change. You will get there with a good strategy and some hard work. Good luck my friend.

Never stretch your budget for a watch. Spend only what makes you comfortable.

Welcome sir 🤙🏼if it were me, I’d search for a Seiko dressKX. If you shop it around you’ll find one under the $200 mark and with the extra funds, I’d get a jubilee strap from Uncle Seiko. With an oyster bracelet and the jubilee, you’ll be set (plus can always get a nato as well)
