I Wore My Fossil to a Maurice Lacroix Event: A 1WC Story

Last night I attended an event hosted by the AD I purchased my Oris from, partnering with Maurice Lacroix and Responder Bourbon. I was stoked to be invited to something like this, but remembered: I'm currently in a challenge to wear only my Fossil every day.

So I went in keeping with the challenge and stuck my Oris in my pocket, dreading the "so what's on your wrist" questions in a room full of Rolex and Omegas. Here are just a couple highlights from the night:

First, I unknowingly sat down to eat dinner with the AD's owner and his son. They had some fascinating pieces in their collections which they let me take a look at, and the owner had some very kind words about both my Fossil and my Oris. His son had a beautiful vintage seamaster and the coolest accutron I've ever seen.

Next, I got to speak with a rep from Maurice Lacroix, which is a brand I never gave any attention. Getting hands on with them, I still feel like their Aikon collection is the only one with a recognizable design language, but the quality seems fantastic at their price. The Tide collection was really interesting, and feels super solid for something made of recycled materials.

Third, I got to drink some great bourbon with a cool story and meet some nice people who just enjoy watches. It was a great time and I hope I'm invited to something like this again.

You are a legend in the 1WC community. We may just retire your Fossil next year and put it in the Circle of Fame for all that it has done.

·

Now that's sticking to your guns. Kudos 🙂 However all your effort might be in vain as I'm winning this #1wc so... sorry about that. But yes, a legend nevertheless. Even more knowing that you will lose against me. :D

I have a very similar Fossil Blue watch, but mine doesn't have the word "Blue"on the dial, just on the case back, so it must be an early version? It's very solid.

Thanks for posting the event!

Thanks for posting the event!

I gave my brother that same variation for Christmas last year so we'd have similar models. The silver and blue looks sweet

It might be begging to be retired by then 😂

Fossil FTW! I think Maurice Lacroix makes nice stuff, green light!

I love that you wore a Fossil to that event. 👌

😮 your Fossil is legendary but you forgot the hastags in todays WRUW. There was a rule change yesterday

Thanks for the story. Very cool!

My wife does not thank you for turning me on to Maurice Lacroix. I pointed out how my falling in love with a $10,000 Masterpiece Gravity was a great step in the right direction from yesterday's $28,000 fall. She was not impressed.
