„Ultra“ vs GS

I thought I‘d try it just for the shits and giggles. And shits and giggles there were.

Geez, that „Ultra“ Apple Watch looks comically, well, stupid.

I was so glad to put on the Snowflake immediately after that chunk was off the wrist. I really don’t get what’s remotely appealing with these slabs of „mini-phone“ on the wrist…

I am an Apple fanboi and often double wrist. For someone who has to lose weight. The rings are a great way of gamification and being able to check messages without pulling my phone is a good way to not look rude during meetings. Wrist computers hold a place for modern utility. Mechanical watches for beauty and craftsmanship.

Best you buy your Apple watches when you can, then. I heard Apple got chewed out by the court because they were caught red handed violating patents or something.

*laugh uproariously* Turns out Tim Cook is also shit with his skulduggery. 🤣

I am and was in countless meetings where the phones are on the table (or the actual "notebooks"to write meeting-notes down) and I find it way more distracting and "rude" when I see people always raising or turning their wrists to check on that little vibration and then swiping their "wrist-computers" than when they just took their phones. In the latter case I knew that I don't need to talk to someone distracted.

But yeah, to each their own. I hope you reach your weightloss goals 💪🏻

So I understand apple watches, I get what are they trying to do

But this ultra model is something I really dont get.. There is something really off about, and they are trying to do "too much" with a wrist watch. really overwhelming

I have one and it’s aggravating because they don’t play well with other companies such as Garmin. Meaning I can’t see my Apple heart rate on my Garmin bike computer which makes riding with the Apple Watch essentially useless. It’s crazy because it’s marketed as an outdoorsy sporting unit but their obstinacy makes it almost obsolete unless I’m fully, cultishly, monogamous to the Apple ecosystem. I could be, I guess, but for starters they don’t make a bike computer. I’ll see if my brother wants it later for Christmas.

What other smart watches work with the Garmin bike computer?

Just trying to figure out if this is solely an Apple Watch problem or all non-Garmin watches problem.

I think Suunto watches work with Garmin. I was only highlighting the fact that Apple doesn’t work with other platforms at all.

Ive never seen the appeal of the apple watch tbh , it's just more of a consumer fashion /electronic item. I much prefer people who have picked out a watch that suits them and has a story beind it.

Imagine if we all had apple cars , apple TV , apple watch and an apple phone...what a boring and stale world it would be

I had a second gen Apple Watch. Didn’t see any benefit so stopped wearing it.

Smart watches are great. I have an Apple Watch 8 and a first gen Ultra. I also have 2 Epix pro 51mm 2nd gen’s. As well as Fenix 6 and 7 both solar. They are great watches and serve a purpose. I also have analog, automatics, Tag’s, citizen seiko and far to many others to mention. and my beloved G Shocks. 17 of them. Watches.

This is now the case with Samsung and Google as well. Their watches only fully work with their own phones and tablets.

It’s the state of the industry. Not just Apple.
