“Titanium”

Sooo I’m deeply interested in this Hamilton H70575733. but I have a couple concerns: it’s a bit big, but I maybe can live with that.

What I think I can’t live withis how it has TITANIUM written on the side. Like, huh? Why? My question: is that painted on, where it could be rubbed off with a high polymer eraser, maybe? Or is it engraved and painted: i.e., permanent-permanent?

any general takes on this model also welcome. Thanks!

That doesn’t bother me too much, but man. Watch companies can’t get enough of writing every single material and function on the outside of a watch. Like people on the street are really missing out if they think you’re wearing a plain old steel watch.

If it were, like, part of the tradition of the brand (like Casios) that’s fine. But hamilton just seems to totally misunderstand its own watch here. Bizarre

I wouldn’t worry too much about the size. Yes it’s a 42mm with 51.5mm lug to lug but on my very average 7 inch wrist it looks fine, and because of the titanium build you really don’t notice it.

As for Titanium written into the side of the case if it bothers you don’t get the watch. I think you’d struggle to get it off. When I run my finger along it it doesn’t seem to be raised also the pvd coating looks great but whenever I’ve changed the strap if I somuch as touch the lugs the coating seems to evaporate. So a little worried that you might remove some of the coating in a really visible area.

I have to say after all that I really do think it looks cool. I don’t normally go for branding, none of my t-shirts even have a logo on them but that Titanium on the side really adds to the look in my opinion.

Good luck. Hope that helped.

I think this is the option without Titanium on the side of the case. Great watch but why did they do that silly Titanium print on the case? The reason I don't own one.

They removed the Titanium written on the case side when they updated the model last year.

I would get the standard titanium model without the pvd coating. Pvd coating on lower grade titanium is not really going to be that durable. And the titanium case picks up scratches quite quickly so be aware of that too.

That's not coming off I'm afraid mate. I have a few watches that have inscriptions on them like that and to be honest you don't really notice them (maybe that's just me and my hairy arms though). What I tend to find it that the lighting pin the photos puts more emphasis on it, but in real life it will blend in more. Titanium scratches like Mother...... so as long as you're ok with that you will have a really nice watch.

Really really grateful for this review, thanks man. It made me feel much better about the side lettering, but worse about the coating, might consider a brushed one instead, TBD. I really appreciate it 👍🏻

No problem let us know what you go with.

FWIW I had the 38mm Titanium (without the wording on the side) but the complete lack of any AR made it a legibility nightmare and I moved it on.

I doubt you’d be able to remove the text without affecting the coating on the watch.

Sigh.... I know. Have you looked at their other Titanium pieces? I know it's polished steel and brush finishes versus black .

Thanks, concerned about that too

Like others here, I much prefer the latest version of the Hamilton Titanium watches, I seriously considered the one your looking at a couple of years ago but never could quite pull the trigger. The biggest thing is TITANIUM in large lettering down the side, like you need to advertise it to the world. The way, the 15, the date window and the butchered "3" are all crammed together is just not ok, at least not for many of us. It definitely doesn't say "Hamilton" to me. I've got my eye on the new titanium with the green dial, which, at least to me, shrieks "Hamilton" as do the others.

I get the dislike of the date placement, it’s very odd, but has some appeal to me in its goofiness. I really just can’t get past the writing on the case. Everyone has their own “dealbreakers” I guess

I have the watch. It's a fine timepiece. Like others, I find the "Titanium" designation a bit silly, especially as more and more watches have titanium cases. But frankly, I very, very seldom am even aware of the label. And the fact that the date window is plastered over the "3" like an afterthought is far more annoying.
