For me, it’s the Rolex Explorer II with a black dial, a Rolex GMT Master II Pepsi, Resco Gen 1 Patriot DLC Stealth, and a Seagull 1963 Panda Chronograph. Those four watches always attracted me than any other watch I seen.

For me the checklist goes like this:
Heritage
Brand
Price
Size
The whole point of a grail to me is the history/heritage or else is just another watch with better parts. In many posts here I have said "for enthusiast is not about the price. We just happened to like watches that are expensive"
I own my grail but here are others that I consider grails:
Glycine Airman:
A legend and one or the first GMT watch worn in the Vietnam war.
Breitling Navitimer
Another Icon in the watches that have been to space.
Any Longines Pilot watch
A brand with huge heritage in the aviation world.
Seiko Flightmaster Special Edition
Probably one of the hardest watches to find not even the Seiko museum has it. I wanted so bad I'm even willing to break my rule and buy a replica LOL.

Interesting, they all have a certain complex aesthetic as a group, but for the Longines. It goes a different direction.
It's a good question! I'll be curious to see more responses, as I feel there can be huge variety in what people would consider the "perfect" watch... For me it would be the Omega seamaster 300 heritage I don't know what it is, but I see the design as a perfect blend of elegance with sportiness... I'm not sure if I will pull the trigger on one, but I've often found myself liking other watches, only to then realise realise that it is because they remind me of it, like the Baltic Aquascaphe or the the (slightly more BB58) Lorier Neptune.

It’s everything you imagine. It ruined me as a collector because nothing is as versatile. My speedy, sold. I never wore it. My NTTD, for sale. It’s not as cool or versatile as the 300 and doesn’t see much wrist time. I’ve been lusting after a polar Explorer since the 80’s… now that I’m in a position to buy one I’m kind of afraid it won’t measure up to the 300.
I have my "grail" watch. I'm still on the hunt for varieties sake. Either a Panerai or a JLC.
These watches
Speedmaster is my answer. I loved them before I got into watches and it’s still one of, if not my favorite designs. At this point I doubt I’ll ever get tired of looking at them.

Thanks for the reply, that's really awesome to hear! What you're describing sounds like the perfect situation really, finding a watch you are so stoked with that you don't want to wear anything else is pretty special really.
