My first watch and the start of this hobby

This is my Citizen Calendier Eco Drive Rose Gold Chronograph. My first watch purchased about 3 years ago.

I got this watch before I knew anything about watches and and didn't foresee the hobby and passion that it would turn into.

I remember being at a Jewelers and trying to decide between this Citizen and an Armani watch ( I was really clueless). Finally I went with the Citizen because I simply liked the strap more. So, so clueless.

I went on YouTube as I was trying to figure out how to configure it and one recommendation after the other led to finding Watchfinder, Teddy, Urban Gentry and Ben's Watch Club. I spent hours the following weeks watching YouTube and learning all that there is about watches. It's now turned into a passion I can't ever imagine leaving my house without a watch.

I'll never get rid of this watch due to the sentimental value it now holds for me.

What was your first watch and have you still got it?

amazing brand to start with

i started with an Orient Bambino but i don't have it anymore because i just don't like open heart anymore but at first i thaught it was kinda cool :)

You can't go wrong starting with a Citizen Eco-Drive. They are one of the most popular brands and movements for a good reason.

My first watch was a Timex long since lost to time and youth. I've been wearing watches since the early 90s at the latest, so there have been many watches over the years.

I sometimes miss the innocence and carefree choices of the clueless period. 👍

That's a beautiful watch. Thanks for sharing.

That Citizen is a keeper. The memories will always be good to have, and it helps to own a reliable quartz watch with useful complications.

I sold my first mechanical watch -- a Seiko 5 flieger -- after just over a year. My taste in fashion changed, and its all black design didn't always complement my clothes. The movement always lost about a minute before the week was over, which was annoying.

I added some other watches to my collection in the past year, but Its spiritual successor is a tiny quartz Seiko Tuna that I love for its size and versatility.

Thanks for sharing mate. I have looked at the Seiko 5 flieger before and I am a fan. Yup, you can't beat the Tuna for size and its interchangeable nature.

Big fan of the Bambino, but yet to own one. I can never find it at a decent price. I'd stick to the 2nd gen bambino.

Citizen are fantastic. I have added 2 more to my collections since. They are still, sadly, underrated.
