Do you have a heirloom in your collection?

I recently got my great-grandfathers Buren Grand Prix back from the watchmaker. It stopped working but after a service it’s up and running again. After a little buff and a new ostrich strap I think it’s a beauty.

I do not. My fore bearers looked at watches as consumable tools, as did I until I looked at a mechanical movement for the first time.

I will hopefully be starting that tradition, just not anytime soon, I hope.

My grandfather was in the jewellery business, so these pocket watches with our family name will go to whichever of our kids wants them.

I do. It's a 1956 Hamilton Sinclair that was my dad's watch that he won for winning his country club's golf championship. It's super dainty and small by today's standards, so I almost never wear it. I'd have to be at a really formal occasion and even then it might look too small even on my 6.75" wrist. It's engraved on the back with the date and his initials, so I'll never part with it. He died in 2012 and it's a constant reminder of him.

This 1964 Longines dress watch was my father’s. It was his first nice watch, bought when he was in his early 20’s. He was always a Longines man.

Beautiful watch! Enjoy it!

I do have a heirloom piece too, I'm currently wearing it 😉

My father-in-law‘s 1940’s Hamilton has an honored place in our collection. He got it as a present from his family when he returned from WWII. Now restored and runs well. Worn sometimes by my wife to family events. Hope you enjoy yours!

I have my dad's Seiko Dx from 1970; He got it as a 21st birthday present and he gave it to me last year. I got it serviced and it is now part of my regular rotation.
