Vostok Komandirskie

Hi everyone,

My first post here. I’ve been looking around a bit and it’s seems to be quite a cool community here!

I recently bought this nice set of four Vostok Komandirskies. They run well and are in  nice condition. I’m trying to get some more background information about them but it seems information on them is quite scares.
What I managed to find is that with the CCCP marking on the dial and the engraved serial numbers on the caseback, they are from the Soviet era. But getting a specific year from the serial numbers doesn’t seem to work.
Does anyone have some further knowledge on them or some helpful advise? Love to here from you, thanks!

You chose well; they are great watches. They are made by the Russian company, Vostok and have an in-house movement. They have quite a following as they are solid, very reasonably priced and also fun.

The ones you buy now are not from the Soviet period (unless you are buying vintage ones). Vostok offer a huge range of different examples - some with styling from that era but also their take on modern watches. Thus the ones you have are 'modern' and new but based on their earlier models. Nothing wrong with that, either!

The other range that Vostok are well know for are the Aphibias - Vostok's diving watches.

In passing, the 'wobble' on the crown is intentional and is a specific safety device. It is not an indication of anything being wrong with the watches.

Look up Vostok and Meranom on the net. Also, search on ebay. There are various people there who specialise in selling Vostok watches. Good luck, they are great pieces!

Thanks for your reaction. The crown wobble had me worried at first, not gonna lie. Good to hear it's intentional.

Would they still put the CCCP marking (at 6 o'clock) on them even when they are made post-Soviet?

The new watches from this company now say “made in Russia” in Russian
