Watch Brands as Car Brands Part 2

We're back with the second part of matching watch brands with car brands. A lot of you guys seemed to agree with the pairings and even made your own comparisons in the comments. I still encourage you all to comment on your own favorite comparison brands and see where they land in the next few posts.

1. Jaeger-LeCoultre and Audi

JLCs and Audis both come very well-built, maintain consistent design languages, and often supply some performance parts to other brands within their ownership group. They both maintain their own prestige outside of the Holy Trinity while also competing at the same time. Their elegant styling will remain timeless even as both brands evolve to meet the needs of the future.

2. Hamilton and Jeep

As legendary favorites of the US military for their ruggedness, there is no better match than these two iconic utilitarian brands. While Hamilton has since moved on from the US to Switzerland, their American heritage is still at the forefront of public perception of the brand. Even if they are not the most durable in their class, both Jeep and Hamilton draw upon their glory days of being out and about in all types of environments that test the reliability of their products.

3. Movado and Cadillac

Both of these brands were once classic American juggernauts who eventually fell into tough times and saw their reputations being diminished by faltering quality and design. Now they're both seen as gaudy shells of their former past by trying to lean into a super angular and "futuristic" design language that has not worked out for either brand.

4. Breguet and Aston Martin

Both Breguet and Aston Martin share similarities by way of being the flagship brand of their respective groups (Swatch Group and Aston Martin Lagonda Group). A lot of their vintage models command insane prices due to their craftsmanship and rarity, and their modern models are seen as underrated (using price to features) compared to the rest of the competition. Each brand also has maintained its signature stylings such as Breguet's hands and Aston Martin's grilles, but aren't afraid to expand its creative horizons.

5. Universal Geneve and Lancia

UG and Lancia have each put out revolutionary designs during the golden years in the mid-20th century but have since been another shadow of their former glory (noticing a pattern here?). The difference here is that other brands have managed to make some sort of modern comeback in some capacity but neither of these brands have made any meaningful impact despite multiple changes. Now all the desirable pieces have been of their vintage editions. (I couldn't find any PNG's of their stuff at all 😭)

Have these comparisons been accurate so far? Let me know what you guys want to see in Part 3!

Nailed #2. Guilty.

Hyundai: San Martin and other Ali microbrands

KIA : Pagani, look great, kinda familiar but, don't expect a long run.

Toyota: Citizen, something for everyone, alittle bland but over built, great value, reliable as hell and does what it should do everyday, all the time for a really long time.

Honda: Seiko. Reputation built on 2 or 3 models, great build, very popular with the masses and just enough bells and whistles to keep it interesting.

Both have way more show than go, over marketed.

·

Cabot Watch Company Land Rover. Both are British icons and make products that are fun to bash around in.

·

G shock and Carver Skateboards.

As a proud owner of both, I was thinking tissot as Hyundai. Both are mass market focused but have upped their game recently and now cover more into affordable luxury for some models.

Formex and Tesla
