Watch Brands as Car Brands Part 3

Part 3 of this somehow low view series on my profile. I have loved the engagement so far though so I appreciate everyone who has left a comment on the previous posts so I intend to continue until I run out of brands.

  1. Shinola and Lincoln

Both brands pride themselves on their timeless All-American and "Detroit-built" designs. Shinola assembles its watches in the United States and has several boutiques while Lincoln assembles their cars in Canada so it is safe to say both brands' claims of American manufacturing are stretched.

2. Tudor and Land Rover

Both brands are spinoffs of larger more famous brands (Rolex and Range Rover) and use basically the same parts but are just marketed towards a lower price segment while maintaining the quality of their parent brand. Both brands started as tool/rugged outdoors icons that eventually made their way into the luxury space due to their quality, but still remain true to the rugged vintage design language.

3. Swatch and Volkswagen

Swatch and Volkswagen as individual brands both emphasize accessibility, mass production, and all-around fun, but as parent companies the groups strive for total dominance of their respective markets by way of hydras worth of other iconic brands. While reliability is a concern for both, their ease of replacement and cheap cost enable more people to have their products, purely focusing on quantity over quality.

4. A. Longe & Sohne and Maybach

These brands were early luxury pioneers in the 20th century that fell onto post-WWII hard times. Eventually, they were revived under larger parent groups (Richemont and Mercedes-Benz) finding their own footing by continuing their heritage of high luxury and craftsmanship.

5. F.P Journe and Pagani

Both overengineered, incredibly expensive, and competitive performers, F.P Journe and Pagani should just collaborate on a watch/car design now at this point. Both brands have some of the most dedicated cult following fans one would hope for when their innovations in design are top-notch

Did these pairings hit the mark? Keep letting me know which brands go well with one another and I will see them for part 4 of this series!

When I saw Pagani, first thing that popped up in my head was Pagani Design. 🤣

·

Land Rover is the brand, Range Rover is a model range made by Land Rover

Yes, it’s confusing. Also, the picture you have there is a Range Rover Evoque - yep, super confusing 😅

This is a pretty good write up! I don’t know that I agree with every pairing but I agree with most of them! 👊🏼
