Did wearing high end time pieces made you sound among crowd in your professional career?
Picture is for attention. Wifey just tried some Patek. Unfortunately none of us can afford yet!
No not really,as I work in heavy industry its always been a cheap quartz ,sekondas mainly or as of recently a seiko 5. But I will wear something better when I go for a job interview, i was successful on my last interview and was wearing an alpina seastrong heritage(probably the most dressy diver I've got) so occasionally it's a yes,but I don't think the watch had anything to do with my being successful it just topped off the suit and tie.

Where I come from, you can have the most high-end watch imaginable, but if you're a total dickhead, you'll find that the watch makes no difference. It's substance over style. Likeability factor is number one, whether you're wearing a smart watch, Seiko 5 or Sub.
I'm not wearing my watches to show off or impress people. Besides WC and maybe r/watches, there's only a hand full of people with whom I generally talk about watches. When wearing e.g. my Rolex at my (!)engineering, office, nerdy job, I usually even cover it with my sleeve because I don't want to answer the usual "Wow, how much did you pay for that?" comments. I wear them because they're my biggest hobby. Since nobody at the office ever noticed my watches, I can say with confidence, that they haven't helped me with my career at all.

I will honestly remember this view point. You are a true gentlema.

Thanks for sharing your viewpoint.
Naw I have been to many suit and tie events and almost all wear an Apple watch or no watch. The ladies did have some nice Cartier watches.
