Can we heat a titanium watch and change colour?

I use titanium backpacking cooking gear to reduce weight. It develops colour gradation with heat. Does titanium used for watches do the same?

I’m not suggesting you try it. It will no longer work as a watch😂

I was just curious why no one sells coloured titanium watches.

I see them in racing car parts for example.

This will also work on stainless steel, but be aware that heating steel may change the corrosion resistance

Anodized titanium is common on bicycle frames. It’s a more controllable process with similar effects.

Hang on half an hour whilst I get my watch in the oven

I recall some gun parts were heated to become "straw yellow". Namely the safety switch and trigger on some variant of the Parabellum pistol.

Gun barrels are blued to stop oxidation, as was "black armour" in the middle ages.

Plenty of cheap Titaniums for sale, give it a go 😉

This is an interesting question. The effect might look good on the correct watch.

As always, Invicta has you covered, no need to DIY.

Of course you can do it. The same as with steel, you can change the colour of your steel watch too.

I came here to say de Bethune does that sort of thing. I believe there are also blue ones.
