Seiko really hit it out of the park with the SSK

I mean for generally $300 - $400 you’re getting a GMT, a very nice jubilee bracelet (considering Seikos reputation with it), a nice design and grip on the bezel and a sunray finish.

I have Tudor, Mido, etc but this is a watch that def gets people’s attention enough to compliment or ask me about it.

I’ve had it for about a year now and also happened to realized it was released the same month and year as my daughters birth. It’s just so perfect in every way and will never leave my collection.

I guess this became a review haha just had to share as I enjoy it with my morning coffee ☕️

Edit: also probably has significantly better lume than a large percentage of watches out there.

Yep I got stares and compliments on my ssk019 and islander more than any other watches

Is a good time for affordable watches. You got so many watches under 500 including mechanical chronographs that why spend so much if you don't care about heritage or if the watch is a classic.

·

The SSK was a fair priced and refreshing watch in an ocean of disappointing releases and price hikes from Seiko the past couple years. Definitely hit it out of the park as you said. And then priced the boring SNXS re-release around the same as this GMT. Incomprehensible.

·

The only thing annoying about it is that the case is really designed for a screw down crown that pops out a bit for winding, but with the non screw down crown these ones come with, the crown guards get really bothersome

·

That watch is FFFFIIIIYYYYAAAA 🔥

·

I agree. It was my first “nice” watch and the more I have to compare it to the better it becomes.

Amazing dial color

I bought the Black/Bruce Grape/Wayne version last week to celebrate a promotion — such a gorgeous watch at this price point! Love to see other people enjoying it as much a I enjoy mine 😊

Stuggling to bond with my SSK after a few yrs now, the case fit is top heavy and pulls the head fwd on my small flat 6.5" wrist, maybe its the jubilee bracelet with its ease in articulation doing that, so its been a few yrs now and still trying to click with this one. Glad u have though- the orange looks good always. Ive had many watches and Seikos, so I know the brand well but this model is still a 'miss' for me.

I have the same experience. The case is heavy and pulls down. I really want to like it though! Maybe I need to give it another extended wear

Agree with u, I will still keep at it. By the way, your collection by way of your photos, is top tier JR!

I saw one at a local watch shop and my eyes were locked. Now to get $400 to buy one!

·

Agreed. I have this same orange and love it.

I have the 001 and was never crazy about the jubilee bracelet and how it wore on my 6.5” wrist.

Try it on a thicker quality leather strap and you’ll b surprised how the wearing experience and character of the watch will change.

The SSKs are a fair value at MSRP, but an absolute no brainer at around $400 or less.

Just got my 001 a few weeks ago and I have to say the crystal over 24hr dial really sets this model apart from the SKX and other Seiko dive/sports models.

Mine is a home built GMT using a Seiko nh34 movement , bezel is slightly different than original.

I love mine Pete and agree with all your comments about it 👌

When it came out I got excited and bought it… Now it’s a 100 bucks cheaper 😑.

Nevertheless, a great watch indeed 👍
