Why are Seiko and Orient watches, particularly the dress ones so big?

I was even looking at Orient Star, and while many models are beautiful and considerable, seeing them at 41 or 42 is meh for their purpose.

Don’t get me wrong I’m wearing my 43.5 Bulova Lunar Pilot today but that makes sense.

Why does the beautiful Zen Garden Presage or Orient Sun and Moon v3 rival my Laco Flieger in size and thickness?

Seems like Grand Seiko has it right at least with their dressy options and have some nice 37 models, but it’s interesting that Japanese dress watches are huge.

If many more of these watches came in 36 or 38 they’d be a hit.

🤔

I know there’s new Bambino models at 38mm so maybe they are listening but still.
