You are not even close to being a complete freak. Your microscope is too inexpensive for that. Some of us got ourselves a stereo microscope for this. Just show this to your wife and she will understand that you still have a way to go to complete freakiness.
For me there is an irresistible attraction to a macro viewpoint of just about anything. But for watches it amplifies how utterly amazing the craftsmanship is with astonishing precision. I might have to break down and get a setup myself....
