Are these still using the NH34 movement? Or have they shifted to the Miyota 9015? Stil hoping for one with the Miyota...
This is exactly what's happening to me now. It motivates me to be more active to "charge" the power reserve, but I end up spending a lot of time just looking at my watch and actually admiring the dial instead.
My own experience has been that the hunt feels more exciting than the catch. When I was saving up for my grail watch (Moonwatch), I was focused on not spending unnecessary money on other watches so that I can get there as fast as possible. Of course I was happy once I got the watch, but within 2 months I was out looking for my next potential purchase again.
That said, at least for me, while working towards your grail watch, perhaps you can look into the resale market for watches along the way so that you lose less value once you have attained your grail watch and are looking to downsize your collection. While I am saving up for the SMP300, I have bought a second hand Hydroconquest at a nice discount so I can cut any further losses when I decide to sell it off.
After a few years of watch collecting, I finally attained my grail watch (a Speedy), but I realized that this hobby never ends. I'm always on the lookout for pieces that catch my eye and end up finding ways to justify buying another watch.
Then I remember that I can only wear one watch at a time to try to curb the temptation, and it has barely worked so far.
What I do now is then to just get something second hand, and sell it off once I lose interest in them. And ultimately I still go back to my Speedy after the initial novelty of the new watches wear off.
No advice here, just sharing my personal experience ✌️
I've always thought that the huge Arabic numerals helps to populate the dial a little bit more while being not too busy. Absolutely love this watch! It has almost become my daily wear now!
