New watch day - Longines Hydroconquest 39mm

Been shopping around for a new diver for a bit. Previously wearing a Seiko Samurai but found the 42mm case size a bit too large and the watch too chunky for my liking. Finally narrowed my choices down to the Hydroconquest (for being somewhat close to my grail diver, the SMP300) or the Oris 65 (for the thinness of its looks).

Found a Hydroconquest 39mm at a good price, and decided to act on it. Loving it so far, other than the odd 19mm lug width making it difficult to find a replacement strap, and the very dim lume.

Is having a dim lume common for the Conquest/Hydroconquest watches? Unlike my Speedy or Samurai, the lume appears very weak under similar sunlight situations.

Other than that, totally loving how it looks and feels on my wrist.

Great choice have one myself have to say not had any issues with the lume on mine it’s not in your face with it being blue but i wouldn’t call it dim yeah the 19mm lugs is a pain and it’s £200 for the rubber strap 🤯

The expensive rubber strap has gotten me resorting to finding one from Taobao instead. I'll post up some photos when it arrives!

Very beautiful watch.Mine's keep +1 sec per day.Yes,the lume is pretty dim,but the clasp is way bigger dissapintment. Thanks for reminding me that i need replacement bracelet for my Hydroconquest. 😀

I think sub-par lume is an issue for most Swiss brands at this price point - Oris' notoriously dim lume on the Divers Sixty Five, for example. If you want good lume from the Swiss you've got to spring for a Tudor.

Enjoy your watch mate! The lume isn’t as great as my Tudor BB36 but I think it’s a beautiful well specced diver for a good price!

Have a look on Etsy. I’ve got one on my Hydroconquest and for the money it’s great.

Unfortunately the strap I bought didn't fit this generation of Hydroconquest... I've resigned myself to just buying something from Strap Co instead. Let's see how this goes!

I've always thought that the huge Arabic numerals helps to populate the dial a little bit more while being not too busy. Absolutely love this watch! It has almost become my daily wear now!
