Greetings My Friends

I've been lurking around here for about a week now, and I think this is the friendliest watch community I've seen. There is so much knowledge here. Thank you for this wholesome community. This is what i needed.

About my watch collecting journey, here's how it started:

About 10 years ago, my maternal uncle gifted two watches (1. Seiko and 2. Alba) to my father. Since my father isn't into watches, he didn't wear them much. About 6 years later, I found those watches in a drawer, and I needed a watch, so I wore them from time to time. I really loved the Seiko one. About 1 year ago, I somehow lost the Seiko.

And I really felt heartbroken because I really, really liked the Seiko. So I decided to find the same model. I don't have any knowledge about watches, and I don't have any idea about the reference number, so I didn't find this model (and I still don't know what model it was, haha).

But the good thing is, while researching for this watch, I somehow really fell in love with watches in general. And I decided to get my first watch, the classic Casio F91W.

And this is how it's all started.

So I've been collecting watches for about a year now, and the only problem I have is impulse buying. I bought maybe 3 watches in the first month, and after 1 year, I now have a total of 8 watches. Even though they were all impulse purchases, I still love and wear them all.

But to be honest i really need some watch collecting tips. Share if you have some.!

Again, thanks to all of you for this awesome community.

Howdy and welcome!

As for collecting tips, here’s my best shot:

Slow down and start looking and investigating.

Go for the long delight and have fun!

Aww sorry about the Seiko, if you have a pic I bet someone here will be able to call out what it is.

And welcome 🤝

Buy what YOU like, WEAR the watches, your taste in watches will change and that is OK!

Enjoy the journey!

·

Welcome Naimur

·

Beautiful collection you should be proud

·

2 tips:

1.) Take the time to enjoy the new purchases. All too often, I find myself looking for the “next one” when I should be enjoying the most recent purchase.

2.) You can admire and love a watch without having to own it.

Welcome and have fun!

·

Can you share the ref number for the 4th watch. That's a stunner

Enjoy the journey!

Some lovely pieces you got there!

Welcome!

I wouldn't worry too much about how many watches you buy at first. They can be cheap POS but you can find what size or style you like that way. ⌚🗑️⌚🗑️⌚🗑️

I am an impulse buyer myself but I stay within my means ALWAYS! If I can't afford I don't get it.

Welcome to WC Naimur! Collecting watches is an ever learning experience, with ups and downs. Really early in that learning path myself but buying what on like and wearing what you buy should be a mantra, and then the rest comes down to your budget. All said, beautiful collection you have!

Welcome mate! I'd say my top tip would be to collect whatever you like. There can be lots of opinions in the watch community so it's important to find your own way (although WatchCrunch is an anomaly because it's such a great group!) Also, I think impulse buying is fine initially because it's a great way to experience difgerent watches and see what you like...especially if they're cheaper watches. And the main tip I'd to enjoy 😃

Welcome to the community, Naimur! That Seiko 5 with a black dial with leather band is amazing 🤩
