Tragedy because of my unawareness ๐Ÿ˜‘

Got the crown caught on a metal string while digging through things at work and ended up snagging the crown. The stem broke right inside the crown and I have no way to remove it. Thankfully, the watch was running completely fine until today afternoon before the power reserve ran out.

Got to send it back to Seiko for a new crown and stem. Simple repair if the parts are available, but got to go back to the service center.

oh no. hopefully it doesn't take long to get it repaired.

What a shame, should be an easy fix for a local watchmaker, it's about the first step to get the movement out of the case. Seiko parts are widely available.

It's apparently a simple fix is what my AD told me. They get a new fitted Crown with the stem already prepared for the particular model so it is a matter of swapping out the part. It just depends on the part availability and hopefully not too long.

That sucks. Hope youโ€™ll get it back ASAP.

Simple enough if you know what youโ€™re doing, you should be able to purchase the crown and stem ready made for your model online fairly easily if you wish to. Hope your watch gets sorted quickly for you ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

I couldn't find the parts for the particular model. And not sure if the 6R15 parts (the stem in particular) are compatible with the 6R64 movement, I couldn't find any information.

Plus the stem is broken inside the crown and I have no way to take it out to use a different stem even if If i could find one. My AD said it is fairly a very quick job so hopefully gets sorted soon.

Thanks.

There are methods of removing broken stems from crowns as it happens Iโ€™m trying the alum powder soaking method at the mo as Iโ€™m renovating my 80โ€™s chrono ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿป

" . . . couldn't find the parts for the particular model." Have you tried Esslinger.com?

Tried but they dont have parts for the 6R64 movements. From 6R family they only have for 6R15.

I was only quoted $45 for the change so Seiko service should be the convenient way for me now.

That's great. You'll be back in action. $45 seems a good price too.

So annoying!

Iโ€™m prone to the same accident with great skill at whacking my arm into door frames and metal components at work.

glad your able to put it right without much expense ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ˜…

Try to find a local watchmaker with good reviews
