Does someone at artem think garbage is funny?

Here's how my artem arrived. I'm not one to appreciate fancy packaging or anything, but I think 2 layers doomed for landfill would have sufficed. 4 plastic packages are now in the trash. At least the strap arrived unscathed.

The strap material is lovely and all that. There's plenty of sponsored influencer content to tell you the details. All true except it's super stiff out of the box, to the point the case back doesn't sit on my wrist! It will need to be well broken in, but that might be hard since it's so uncomfortable to wear it like this.

Ok done bring bitter. I'm glad there are premiumish options and straps in short lengths.

Does anyone have a trick to break it in?

Roll and twist the straps a few times. It should break it in a little.

Or just roll up the straps and store it overnight.

I re-used the packaging for when I sell stuff on eBay, it is indeed excessive.

I use one of these suckers to break in the strap, and some others. Put it on there and let the pillow suffer for you 😮

You'd be more angry of the strap arrived damaged because they used too little packaging...

Also, it's hard to take eco-conciousness seriously when someone buys a watch strap made on the far side of the planet. Neither African, nor European swallows carried it to your door during their migration. 😉

I have a couple of Artems in the loopless variant and agree that the packaging is excessive. Tbh just about all watch related packaging is.

Personally I broke them in by wearing them tight - they fit very well around my apparently pear shaped wrist after a couple of days. The blue strap is more often worn so you can see the better curvature at the strap near the 6:00 springbar.

The area nearest the springbars is indeed pretty stiff (and still is on mine although now they’re stiff in a shape that conforms to my wrist and feels nice and secure).

That said, I dont have any of the original version with keepers so I can’t say if the loopless variant is as stiff as what you’re experiencing.

Point taken. I'm more of a cynic than an eco enthusiast.

My wife didn't let me hear the the end of it after I bought a cardboard box from Amazon that shipped in a bigger box. Free bonus right?

Fair! I enjoy a bit of cynicism on occasion myself.

I have heard the Artem straps are a bit of beats to break-in, but are great once broken-in.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll see how it does on my homemade wooden pillow.

I hope so! I was sort of expecting a challenge but figured it might work well on the longer wingspan of my ssnav.

I'm with you Neil. I bought a Venture Earth - their website talks about recycled titanium and their "aim to achieve 80% green-friendly product materials". Then they ship it in this giant plastic case. I love the watch but the plastic case is excessive for any watch and unbelievable for their "Earth" watch.

Would the old tropic strap trick work? Hot water/steam then wrap it around a glass, pillow whatever?
