What is your watch that fits LEAST into Watches and Wonders week?

Lots of pretty watches being released today; I submit my 1976 Seiko Grandfather Tuna (6159-7010). A great watch that is totally its own thing. No wanna be submariner here. Also has some serious technical chops for 1976 (titanium case, high beat 5hz movement, & capable of saturation diving w/o a helium escape value).

LOL! I'm "almost" 100% sure this one of mine would be shunned at the door! LOL!!

Ya, I know that some hate it, and perhaps it’s not a “refined” looking logo. But it definitely gives the brand a unique identity.

Does that one have a helium escape valve? From my understanding the engineers decided it would be better without

It does not. They developed (and patented) “L” shaped gaskets, combine with a a monobloc case that don’t allow helium into the watch to begin with, so then no need to let it out. This is still the technology that modern Seiko Tuna saturation divers use.

I think that definitely counts 👍

So we are doing big ugly watches are we? I see your Seiko and raise you one Steeldive Emperor Tuna! No titanium here. 10 ounces of solid steel and a monobloc case. This is the opposite of fine boned nice or dressy.

It would be my SBBN035 Tuna. The only dive watch you’ll ever need.
