Should I buy the new Bicompax 003
I’m headed to Paris next week for a long weekend with my girlfriend to celebrate some recent achievements that her and I both accomplished.
She is planning on buying herself a handbag to mark the occasion. Which is making me think I should mark the occasion with a watch…so I booked a viewing appointment at the Paris showroom.
Reason I am reaching out to you all is that I don’t know if this Baltic is the watch to mark the occasion? Do I need to mark the occasion with something other then the memories I will collect?
Also anyone had the Seagull movement for a while to see reliability?

If you really like the watch, go for it.
No you don’t “need” to buy a watch to mark this occasion. As collectors, we often seem to want a reason to justify buying the objects we desire, this particularly seems to apply to watches. It’s akin to our need to capture a moment on camera at the expense of fully experiencing it. Having said that, it is a nice watch and what’s wrong with a special weekend away with nice presents for both of you!
I have had the Bicompax 002 for about a year now. Apart from the amazing finishing and dial design the movement keeps good time, but is surely not as refined as more valuable movements. Sometimes the chrono second hand Seems to jump a little as if the gears ⚙️ would skip a tooth or something, but that doesn’t cause timing issues. And also the movement is more on the louder ticking side compared to others which might be bothering for some.
I’m very happy with it even if it’s not that long of a time I have it now. I would recommend it any day. 😊👍🏻

The movement itself does have me worried, some part of me would like to keep saving for a more durable movement as i tend to beat my watches up through day to day life.
No. Feel free to get some cheap thrill at the showroom but leave your charge card at home and enlist girlfriend as "bad cop" to oppose the purchase and (this time only) listen to her.

Take your favorite watch on wrist to create memories. Tell your girl to skip the handbag and buy her a ring instead. That will make the trip memorable.
