Anyone use an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner on their bracelets?

Was working a bit on my lorier Hyperion today: brushing the clasp and moving ljnks around to move the clasp to a more comfortable position and the screw pins were absolutely filthy.  I keep thinking about buying an ultrasonic bath style cleaner specifically for bracelets and clasps but I was curious if anyone else had one they might recommend.

I just use some lighter fluid and an old toothbrush. That said, an ultrasonic cleaner is a nice thing to have - cleans spex, carbs, dentures, all sorts of stuff! So if you get one, get a bigger one, you'll be really popular with the geriatric vintage Harley rider neighbours.

😂 looking at the small tabletop ones from Amazon mostly.  Nothing much bigger than a watch bracelet in terms of capacity

I bought a very small inexpensive one from Amazon, it's perfect for watch bands and eyeglasses, not much bigger than that and I was very impressed with how well it worked.  I think I paid less than $20 and was very impressed.

I inherited mine from my grandfather. He was a jeweler and watch repair guy. Works wonders but sometimes you really gotta get in there with a toothbrush

I have one. Specifically, I have this one that I purchased from Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BG9Z8I/

I bought it in 2018, and I don't remember exactly why I chose this model over the others available at the time. I purchased it specifically to clean a used Planet Ocean bracelet that I purchased that was filthy. I don't use it very often. I guess I am not as grossed out by my own dirt as I am by the dirt of others. But when I do use it, it works really well.

I'll add that sometimes it takes a few cleaning cycles to really get everything cleaned.

Thanks. Still has good reviews for the price.  Do you use just water or a solution too?

Yeah this would more be for the screw pins and the holes in the links of the bracelet. Hard to get in there without a mini pipe cleaner

I purchased and use this solution...

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DBP3YTO/?th=1

Since I have it, I always use the solution. So, I do not know how well the cleaner works with water only.

Good to know. Figured it would be best to use solution

My son gave me this model for Christmas (which I chose) and it works well on food processor attachments.  It’s certainly not the cheapest model out there but you never know what you will eventually be cleaning.  I specifically recommend a model with physical knobs over electronic controls.  You can replace rotary controls relatively cheaply, but if you have to replace the circuit board (if it’s available) behind electronic controls, the cleaner may not be worth repairing.

I have a very similar Magnasonic unit (Model MGUC500)  that I picked up from Amazon, and it does a really nice job, but as you mention, it may take more than once through, even on the longest cycle. I seem to recall that I did some research prior to buying, and the general recommendation was that these inexpensive ones worked just as well as units at multiples of the price.

I just got a tiny one from Aliexpress, I wasn't expe ting much. But Wow, put in an expanding bracelet, and watch dark clouds emerge from it. Then I put a watch case in there, same thing. Only paid about £20 including delivery.

Forgot about this thread. I love it. Used it on all bracelets and my sunglasses and it works like a charm 🙂 still need to use a tool/agitate some of the older stuck on grime but it did amazing at between the links
