Anyone else have this issue with the ST-1901?

I'm keeping the brand out of this post as I've emailed for warranty service and I trust the brand completely to handle this, but I'm curious.

I have a watch with an ST-1901 and the totalizer hand seems to be possessed. When I engage the chrono, the totalizer jumps backwards about 5-7 minutes....when I stop and reset before 1 min elapses, it jumps forward past 0 to 1-3min. If I wait over a minute it snaps to the 1, but on stop/reset past 1min it then resets to just left of 0.

Anyone else have heard of this?

I don't have one, but it's interesting.

I have not heard of this issue, but FYI just yesterday I stumbled upon a fascinating blog posting that talks about issues with the ST19 movement and how improper adjustment can lead to lots of different bad things happening, all of which can be easily fixed.

There are loads of issues with these movements. There's good reason the other mechanical chronograph modules cost so much more. There are plenty of good ST movements out there, but the QC is absolutely horrible so lots of bad apples make it out into the real world. Old equipment and lac of QC is how they are able to sell the movements so cheap. It's just really a crapshoot.

I trust the brand to make this right, I am more just curious if this particular issue has been documented.

This was a really informative article, the interesting thing I noticed was that the brand that hosted the article doesn't seem to sell a watch using that movement.

You can see some of their ST19 models here: https://www.arcuswatch.com/watches

I think the problem is that they only do limited production runs, so everything is sold out.

But I know nothing about them. I just stumbled upon the blog posting.

I assumed that was the case but couldn’t find that page on their site. Those are some pretty cool Canadian watches.

Yes they are. My daughter lives near there. I'm half thinking of asking her to go bang on the door next time she's in Calgary and see what's up! 😀

Or I could just fill in the form on the web site!

I was recently delivered a SU chrono with this movement. So far, it’s operating as it should and within it’s tested parameters. For an inexpensive movement I was impressed how nice it looks. It’s operation has been excellent. The start, restart and reset functions all are very smooth and positive. It also holds a long wind and I really think the added tension when fully wound is excellent.

Just picked up a watch with an ST3621. No chrono and a novelty wheel instead of a small second hand. Had it a week and it's not lost or gained a second. Read good things on the net about them too! Just a question of how long it lasts. I think you're right to trust them to fix it though it is a shame.
