Creating Your Perfect Timepiece

As collectors, we're constantly on the hunt for that elusive perfect timepiece. While I understand that it's an impossible task, it's the journey of exploration and discovery that I enjoy so much.

Below, I've outlined a non-exhaustive list of specifications that I believe would make up my dream watch.

I'm also curious to know, what specifications would you like to include in your ideal watch?

  1. Diameter: 39mm

  2. Sapphire sandwich

  3. Micro-rotor or Peripheral rotor

  4. Blued hands

  5. Power reserve indicator located on the back

  6. Appropriately sized crown

  7. Screw-down crown for added security

  8. Drilled Lugs

  9. Lug width: 20mm

  10. Adjustable clasp (if equipped with a bracelet)

Omega Seamaster AT will do it…perfect for me

  1. 38mm

  2. Aventurine or a deep enamel dial

  3. Raised applied numerals in a contrasting and highly visible color that compliments the dial.

  4. Handset that compliments the indexes and the hour hand is clearly different than the minute hand

  5. As much AR as you can possibly fit on the crystal

  6. Tritium illumination (T25 is enough)

  7. Increased hardness (like RZE UltraHex)

  8. Drilled lugs

  9. Screw down crown

  10. 120 click unidirectional timing bezel

  11. Have a quartz and an automatic version. Don't really care about the movement as long as it's reasonably accurate and very reliable. If the movement is cheap, it should at least be repairable. Seiko or Miyota etc., is fine.

  12. The whole design has to come together as a single artistic vision.

What I really want is the specs and parts of a Marathon MSAR in the design of a Zodiac Super Sea Wolf and throw in RZE UltraHex.

Slightly smaller "Arnie" type watch, rubber strap, no digital display, bidirectional friction bezel to time events, sapphire, at least 100m WR, lume, and solar mecha-quartz movement, if there is such a thing. Price: less than $199.

1. Diameter: 36 - 38mm

2. Sapphire sandwich

3. Micro-rotor or manual winding movement

4. Blued hands (But depends on the dial)

5. Symmetrical pleasing or golden ratio (Ex. Lange 1)

Lange 1 moonphase in RG is still my favourite as of now.
