My vote is: The Tudor looks better, but I wouldn't buy any watch that I'm afraid to wear. If I won't wear it with daily life, then it's out of my price range even if I can afford it.
38mm
Aventurine or a deep enamel dial
Raised applied numerals in a contrasting and highly visible color that compliments the dial.
Handset that compliments the indexes and the hour hand is clearly different than the minute hand
As much AR as you can possibly fit on the crystal
Tritium illumination (T25 is enough)
Increased hardness (like RZE UltraHex)
Drilled lugs
Screw down crown
120 click unidirectional timing bezel
Have a quartz and an automatic version. Don't really care about the movement as long as it's reasonably accurate and very reliable. If the movement is cheap, it should at least be repairable. Seiko or Miyota etc., is fine.
The whole design has to come together as a single artistic vision.
What I really want is the specs and parts of a Marathon MSAR in the design of a Zodiac Super Sea Wolf and throw in RZE UltraHex.
I have exactly one use case that makes it worth it for me. My dog's last potty walk of the evening. Some spots on my street are dark and it's easy to spot check the time. Checking a lumed dial is a second faster than pushing a light button on a digital watch, which is a second faster than turning my flashlight on. Not to mention sometimes my flashlight is on "shine with the light of a dying star" mode, and it sucks to blind both of us.
How do you like the fit and finish of Certina vs Tissot or Hamilton? Certina have always seemed interesting to me, but have never seen one in person.
@saaly182 I'd say it depends on how big the crowd is. I got there when it opened and it was pretty busy. Popular brands like Monta or Farer you had to do the old bar/nightclub thing where you edge your way through a crowd to get to the front and handle a watch/talk to the bartender. For me, that gets old fast. A couple hours in and the crowd thinned out and then I could really go stall to stall trying on watches. I'd say the ideal is 1 day, between 4 to 6 hours, try to pick a day that's less busy.
