Guilty pleasures within this hobby?

I must admit that when I see another person wearing a gold watch (regardless of the brand), I must work against my inner emotions and prejudice towards that person. When I wear my 16618, other people probably feel the same towards me.

However - it's probably exactly all this that makes the 16618 my guilty pleasure. And you know what? After some years wearing it, I'm still feeling som guilt but less than before.

What is YOUR guilty pleasure within this watch hobby domain - and why?

I have this issue with gold watches that most times I see someone wearing one, I love the look and want one too. However, as soon as I put one on my own wrist I think it looks like shit on me and I don‘t ever wear it. I‘ve tried multiple times but it just doesn‘t work for me unfortunately. I would looove a Rootbeer for example and it would be rather easy to get from the AD but I think I wouldn‘t wear it unfortunately.

That 16618 is wonderful though! Congrats ;)

I have a couple of gold watches (capped mostly). However, all of them are vintage. Maybe it is an aquired taste, coming with age. I now appreciate the warmth of these watches. As of today I don’t have any sport watches in gold but I could see myself wearing a Rootbeer like @eliamathias mention.

Great colormatching with your jacket BTW.

Well I really want a Pokemon watch. I'm sure many people would hate that.

but those same people probably like snoopy and Micky mouse watches.

I appreciate gold on watches. Primarily due to my view of thinking they’re era inspired pieces which are retro cool. Solid watch you have though!

Sheesh, that is sexy. When I see someone wearing a gold watch I only think they are cool and confident. I don’t think I have that same confidence to pull one off, though. Maybe one day!

First off It's Stunning! It would just feel soooo good to wear.. But then you know this!

I say less guilt! Just Enjoy that BadBoy!

Hmm - I say this with apologies to my Rolex brethren.
While I love over the top watches….I automatically assume anyone in a gold Rolex, especially a gold Rolex Tool watch, is probably an awful person.   It seems almost cartoonish in its villainy.
In fact, I recently ordered a gold rolex rip-off from Ali express for a costume - precisely because it completes the drug lord/ oligarch /crook angle I’m dressing up as.

I know not all gold subs are owned by jerks, but I struggle to switch off that immediate judgement.

As for the guilty pleasure - I also sometimes put on my own equivalent version.  I can still rationalize its tool purpose a bit by diving with it at least.  Funny, it also has some gold accents which I think is what makes it more scandalous 😂
