Well it's here... white Moonwatch

It doesn't seem to be a limited model, which is a good thing.

Definitely a good looking watch but all those hoping for pandas will be disappointed.

Those hopes and dreams were crushed when Daniel Craig appeared with the watch, I think. 😂

One of those rare occasions when the flip side does more for me than the dial …

Dial looks great and the Daniel Craig nickname lends a bit of extra cool factor. The red Speedmaster is sure to be a fan favourite. The black applied hour markers make it more special compared to the painted markers on the black dial. They also make it very legible, which had been the problem with the Alaska Project.

Panda is done to death, the Speedmaster didn’t need it.

Heresy I know - but I would go further and say the Speedmaster has been done to death.

I think it’s a great watch, don’t get me wrong, but it’s hard to get too excited about some very subtle variation. We have had white ones before. So if the big deal is Daniel Craig then, nice as it is, I’m moving on.

Yeah I’d agree. The only speedy that appeals to me is the standard moonwatch with an acrylic crystal. I could really do without the special editions.

It’s a classic and rightly so.

And I am okay with them doing special editions (to death) but the teaser and …. reveal campaigns are pretty tiresome for the same old lovely watch … now with circular brushing … now with a butterfly clasp … now in white , etc., etc., ad nauseam just grates a little.

Obviously it’s the same marketing team who crammed the Moonswatch so far down our throats we choked … and then teaser and … reveal … now with a gold plated second hand, etc., etc.

It actually feels as though they’ve run out of ideas and so have to shout loudly about … actually doing very little.

Shame as I like Omega as a brand and they have some terrific watches but their heads seem to be disappearing just a little too far up their own proverbials.

The red Speedmaster text on while dial is spot on !

Now looking at this, the original seems... a bit boring to me. 😄

This is actually the first speedmaster I like, but it's a shame my bank manager doesn't agree.

·

MAKE IT IN A 38 FOR THOSE OF US WHO ARE PART OF THE ITTY BITTY WRISTY COMMITTEE

I like Omega, but I think they’re moving towards the Rolex model of banking on iconic designs as opposed to producing anything new. Special edition after special edition of the same few watches only goes so far.

To be honest most of these big names are living off their back catalogues which I am sort of okay with. Iterating great watches and in some cases improving them is fine.

That said some of the pricing is a bit ambitious and so it needs big marketing hype and spend to get sales. Personally I’m in favour of better pricing, lower marketing hype and spend and letting good/great watches truly sell themselves.

But clearly I’m a dinosaur.

If I had 8 grand in disposable income I'd buy it right now.

Omega needs to give Bessie a rest lol
