Sandwich dials

I visited an Omega boutique the other day and the Seamaster Heritage 300 caught my eye. I really love that sandwich dial but $7k puts it firmly in grail territory for me. Any other good sandwich dials out there from more accessible brands?

(Also very curious why it's called a sandwich dial if there are only two layers, or is there another layer I'm missing?)

Killing it with the recommendations tonight. Will also throw out the Baltic Aquascaphe. Partial sandwich dial, similar aesthetic for a fraction of the Seamaster price.

Enjoying mine. The lumed layer sits on top of the base plate so that's the bottom slice of bread 😅

Ive held a few Swedish Tusenö and they feel solid.

Not a sandwich dial, but very similar look at a fraction of the price. The Railmaster:

Previous model, paid £3500 so much cheaper!

At the other end of the scale here's my alkin, also a sandwich dial and only a few hundred quid

I had one it's a lovely watch but it's not worth the retail price at all. I'd be looking at 30% off retail minimum if possible. More if second hand.

An “open” sandwich?

You can get the seamaster 300 pre owned for much cheaper. You’ll find a lot in the $4k range on eBay, chrono24 etc
